Within the framework of the AgriTech Lab program, a two—day Qostanai AgroTech Hackathon was held jointly with the Astana Hub - Qostanai Hub, bringing together teams, developers, experts and representatives of agribusiness around the real technological challenges of the industry.
Olzha Agro, one of the largest agricultural holdings in Kazakhstan, became a partner and sponsor of the hackathon. The company provided the participants with real industry cases based on the actual tasks of the agricultural sector, and also provided a prize fund of 1,000,000 ₸.
A total of 40 teams took part in the hackathon.
Following the results of the working stage, 23 teams presented the results for further selection. After an expert assessment, the 8 strongest teams that took part in the Demo Day were identified.
It was these eight teams that presented their projects, presented the developed solutions and defended them before an expert jury.
During the hackathon, participants could receive feedback from mentors who helped them better understand the industry specifics of the cases, test hypotheses and refine solutions in terms of practical application.
Hackathon Mentors:
Olga Kisel is an agronomist for plant protection at "Olzha Agro" LLP.
Zhandos Kerimkulov is CEO of Egistic startup, Director of IT "Method 2023" LLP.
Working with mentors allowed the participants not only to focus on the technological component, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the real processes and limitations of agricultural production.
The final projects were evaluated by a jury that combined expertise in digitalization, AgriTech, and agricultural production.:
Evgeny Boyarchuk is CEO of GrainChain, resident of Astana Hub, Head of the AgriTech Lab, Director of Transformation at "Olzha Agro" LLP.
"Olga" Zinnatullina is the Director of Digitalization at "Method 2023" LLP, Head of the Business Analysis Department at "Olzha Agro" LLP.
Alexey Yerin is the head of the agronomic department of "Olzha Agro" LLP.
When evaluating the final solutions, practical applicability, technological sophistication, compliance with the real task of agribusiness and the potential for further development were taken into account.
According to the results of the Demo Day, two winning teams were determined from the eight finalist teams.:
MusorDropp and Ceres
It is crucial for the organizers that the hackathon does not end only with the announcement of the winners and the awarding of prizes.
It is planned to continue working with the MusorDropp and Ceres teams together with Olzha Agro. The next stage will be further elaboration of the proposed solutions, assessment of the possibilities of their testing and potential practical application in real business processes.
Thus, the Qostanai AgroTech Hackathon has become not only a team competition, but also a platform for finding solutions that can be continued after the event.
87 participants → 40 teams → 23 submitted results → 8 teams on Demo Day → 2 winners.
The Qostanai AgroTech Hackathon is over, but work on strong solutions continues.
And this is definitely not the last AgroTech Hackathon at the AgriTech Lab.
Demo Day.
Olzha Agro».
Olzha Agro».
Olzha Agro».
MusorDropp и Ceres
Qostanai AgroTech Hackathon
AgriTech Lab.
