It sounds strange, but I've been working on Sheteldegi Qazaq almost every day for the last few weeks. The business model, Customer Journey, Team, presentation, platform structure, partners, new functions - there is more and more work.
And recently I caught myself with a rather funny thought: I work every day on a startup that is still impossible to use.
This seems to be one of the most enjoyable traps for a novice founder.
As long as the product exists in Miro, presentations, and notes, it can be infinitely improved. Add another feature, come up with a new section, rebuild the business model, draw another arrow in the Customer Journey - and every time there is a feeling that the project is moving forward.
And then you ask yourself a very simple question.:
"And what can a real user discover and try today?"
And it gets a little awkward. 😅
The Sheteldegi Qazaq has really grown a lot in recent weeks. At first, it was the idea to help students from Kazakhstan enroll abroad. Then there were documents, scholarships, a visa, housing, relocation, adaptation, community, work, mentors, a marketplace of services, and a student's personal itinerary...
At some point, I was going to make an MVP, but by chance I started designing an entire ecosystem.
And, probably, the most pleasant thing about planning is that it's almost impossible to make a mistake there. While the product is on the board, any problem can be solved with another square and an arrow.
This won't work with a real user anymore. He will simply open the product and either understand why he needs it, or close the tab.
Therefore, now a completely different stage begins for the project: it's time to build.
There is only one caveat - I am not a developer. I don't know how to write code, and until recently I had little idea how such platforms were technically created. That's why I'm currently learning about vibe coding, communicating with developers, studying tools, and gradually trying to turn schematics into a working product.
And here an interesting change has occurred.
Previously, the main question was: "What else can I add to Sheteldegi Qazaq?"
Now it sounds different: "What should be removed to leave only the most necessary?"
And the second question turned out to be much more complicated. Almost every function seems important, especially when you come up with it yourself.
But the first version does not have to solve the student's entire journey from the thought "I want to study abroad" to the first job after university. It is enough for her to solve one real problem so well that a person wants to use the product a second time.
Therefore, the immediate goal is now much simpler: not to build an ideal platform, not to cover dozens of countries and not to realize the entire ecosystem.
Make the first working version of Sheteldegi Qazaq and finally give it to a real user.
Before that, the project was mainly tested by my own hypotheses. Now reality will begin to check it.
And for some reason, it seems to me that this is where the most interesting part of this story begins. 😅
Founders, admit it: How long did your first MVP exist only in your head before you finally gave it to the users?
Sheteldegi Qazaq?»
