There comes a time in every company when someone looks at a report and asks the most dangerous question.:
"Where did this figure come from?"
The question sounds calm, almost matter-of-fact, but experienced people already understand at this moment: a small investigation is about to begin.
First they will open the report, then the contract, then the act, then the warehouse record, then they will remember the correspondence, then there will be a file with the name "final", next to it "final_2", and somewhere in the depths of the folder — "exactly the last_final corrected". After that, a person usually appears who says: "I roughly remember how it was." And here it becomes clear: digitalization is there, the documents are there, the systems are there, the employees are there, but there is still no complete story.
It was with this feeling that EMY began. Not with a great desire to create a "platform of the future" that will solve everything, save everyone, and make coffee on its own. Such platforms live well in presentations. In real life, you still have to answer old questions after them.: who entered the data, who checked it, and why the final version is back in Excel.
We started with another question: why is there more and more data, but sometimes there is no confidence in it?
Kazakhstan has long passed the stage when digitalization meant simply "converting paper to electronic form." Services have become online, documents are signed electronically, companies use ERP, accounting systems, archives, cabinets, registries, mobile applications, and several more tables that no one officially talks about, but everyone uses them.
But the digital system by itself does not guarantee that the data can be checked quickly: one process runs smoothly through procurement, warehouse, accounting, lawyers, production, management and counterparty, everyone has their own part of the truth — and, most frustratingly, everyone can be right.
It's just that these truths don't always add up to one chain. And in real management, it is the chain that is important.: who created the record, on what basis, to what object it belongs, who changed it, why he changed it, which document became the basis, and what happened next. Without this history, data can be stored, forwarded, attached to emails, and shown at meetings, but at the time of a dispute or verification, you still have to collect their past manually.
EMY appeared as an attempt to give important data a normal working biography. Not a beautiful legend, of course. The data should not tell about childhood, favorite music, or vacation plans. But if they participate in a contract, purchase, payment, asset accounting, digital law, or artificial intelligence solution, they should at least explain where they came from and why they can be trusted.
In this logic, EMY has several basic elements. The EMY code helps to link an object, event, or record to other data in different systems. The EMY token is not a cryptocurrency or a ticket to the world of exchange adventures, but a digital container of a verifiable connection between an object, data, participant, foundation, and action history. Ethical metadata provides context: who worked with the data, when, why, and on what basis. A digital footprint allows you not to guess through folders and correspondence, but to restore meaningful actions. To put it quite simply, EMY is not about the data just lying in the system. EMY is about making the data explain itself.
For example, purchases. On paper, everything usually looks clear: application, contract, delivery, act, payment, accounting. In real life, a whole drama can fit between these words with clarifications, substitutions, approvals, urgent letters and the phrase "let's do this for now, then we'll fix it." Then time passes, and someone asks: why did you buy this particular thing, from this particular supplier, and for exactly this amount?
A good digital process should not answer "it happened that way", but show the way to solve it.
Or asset accounting. In a large organization, an object can be located in one place, listed in another, serviced by a third department, and it is only remembered during inventory. At this point, I especially want the asset to have not only a card, but also a life story: where it was, who was responsible, what was done to it, on what basis it was moved, written off, repaired, or suddenly found.
Things are even more interesting with artificial intelligence. The AI can respond very confidently. Sometimes it's so confident that it makes it awkward for a person to doubt. But the result of the model cannot be more reliable than the data on which it is based. Therefore, the origin of the data is not a technical detail, but a matter of trust in the result.
Conventional automation often asks: how to complete the process faster? EMY asks another question: how to make the process verifiable? This is not an attempt to replace ERP, accounting systems, government registries, banking services, or corporate databases. Being the "master system of everything" is a dangerous position: such a system quickly has high expectations, a lot of dissatisfied people and not a single free administrator. EMY's task is different — to create a layer of connectivity where one process passes through different systems, documents, departments and participants.
In technological logic, we are talking about unique identifiers, event-based fixation of actions, metadata, a change log, and verifiable relationships between objects, documents, and process participants. That is, not just about storing data, but about restoring its meaning and origin.
The idea of EMY began to take shape in 2022. During this time, we have studied international approaches to digital assets, data, artificial intelligence, verifiable digital attributes, and digital footprint. Gradually, the project took shape as a patent architecture and became the basis for the creation of EMY (Ethical Metadata Yield) LLP. The name, of course, deserves a separate pause: Ethical Metadata Yield sounds like it was invented by a lawyer, an IT specialist and a person who is not afraid of difficult words. Perhaps it was. But if you remove the academic fog, the meaning is simple: ethical metadata should give a practical result — not just to describe a file or record, but to help understand where the data came from, what they are related to, who changed them and why they can be trusted.
In 2026, the company received the status of an Astana Hub participant. This is an important stage for us: the Astana Hub provides an environment where a technological idea can be discussed, tested for maturity and prepared for practical implementation. Currently, EMY is at the stage of architectural study and preparation for the creation of a PoC/MVP. We do not pass off the concept as a finished product — this is fundamental. It is better to build technology honestly than to announce in advance that it has already saved the digital world. As you know, it is better to save the digital world carefully: it is large, complex and periodically asks for a password update.
The next stage is to test the architecture on real processes. We are interested in non-ideal schemes from regulations, where everything moves strictly according to the arrows and no one ever forgets to attach a document. Such processes are good for teaching aids. In life, it's more useful to look at where something doesn't add up, gets lost, duplicates, changes without a clear trace, or raises an honest question: "Who did this and why?" We are currently looking for 2-3 application scenarios for pilot study: procurement, asset accounting, corporate data, AI circuits, or processes where we regularly have to manually restore the chain of events. If your company has data, but its history has to be collected by people, folders, and old messages, we definitely have something to talk about.
In October, we plan to present EMY at a major international exhibition site and show that Kazakhstani IT initiatives can be not only about new services and applications, but also about a deeper task - trust in data.
We believe that the next stage of digitalization is verifiability. Not just more systems, more data, and faster reconciliation, but a clear connection between data, objects, actions, and responsibilities. Because the main question of the future will sound not only like this: "Where is the data stored?" It will sound different: "Why can we trust this data?"
Let's try to make sure that digital processes have less fringe searches and more trust in data.
