Responsibilities:

Leadership:

• Formation and support of uniform development standards in the Typelevel ecosystem.
• Conducting a code review with an emphasis on the efficiency, correctness, and quality of architectural solutions, not just style.
• Maintaining and developing engineering practices: testing, type safety, functional principles, effects, refactoring, CI/CD.
• Initiating and coordinating team discussions on technical solutions: libraries, project structure, error handling, configuration, logging.
• Control of technical debt and planning for its elimination.
• Participate in architectural discussions, RFCs, and design sessions.
• Participation in the development strategy of the technological stack of the project.

The team:

• Mentoring developers, conducting internal reviews, and sharing knowledge.
• Onboarding new developers: guidelines, environment, project rules.
• Initiating technical retrospectives and improvements to engineering processes.
• Creating and maintaining a culture of open discussion of technical solutions.
• Encouraging the independence and responsibility of developers in decision-making.

Development:

• Participate in the planning, evaluation and prioritization of tasks.
• Decomposition of tasks from business requirements into technical subtasks.
• Assigning tasks to developers based on competencies and priorities.
• Monitoring the progress of tasks and prompt assistance to developers in case of difficulties or blockers.
• Participation in incident analyses and post-mortems, planning of preventive measures.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Scala, including 1+ year as a technical leader / team leader.
• Deep knowledge of Typelevel stack: Cats, Cats Effect, FS2, Tapir.
• Understanding the asynchronous and competitive Cats Effect model: Fiber, Resource, Semaphore, Ref.
• Strong knowledge of functional programming concepts: Tagless Final, category theory, functors, monads, transformers.
• Understanding the features of Kafka, Cassandra, and Redis, as well as the principles of the CAP theorem and their impact on system design.
• Experience in building and integrating Service Mesh / API Gateway solutions: Istio, Envoy.
• The ability to read and analyze other people's code, conducting deep code reviews.
• Proficiency in English at the level of reading and discussing technical materials.
