Senior Search Engineer

Brief Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Search Engineer to join our dedicated team, focusing on advanced search technologies that enable intelligent and scalable information retrieval systems. You will play a pivotal role in improving and expanding components of our search stack, such as query translation, result ranking, and pattern matching APIs.

Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable search components with Scala 2 and the Play Framework

• Implement and improve Pattern Matching APIs using Python

• Build and refine query translation systems (Query Cooker) through Java

• Support and optimize Elasticsearch plugins for reliability and elevated performance

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, and ensure search services are scalable and highly available

• Troubleshoot and upgrade search performance within complex distributed systems

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of programming experience in Scala 2, Java, and Python

• Solid understanding and knowledge of the Play Framework

• Familiarity with developing and maintaining Elasticsearch plugins

• Understanding of indexing methods, search algorithms, and query processing

• Competency in using DevOps practices and working with AWS services, such as EC2

• Flexibility to work effectively in fast-paced agile settings

• English language skills at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or above

Nice to have

• Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) or semantic search

• Expertise in search relevance optimization or information retrieval design

• Proficiency in containerization platforms, including Docker or Kubernetes
