Drilling Optimization Engineer

We are looking for a drilling optimization engineer to monitor and provide technical support for drilling operations in real time, analyze drilling mechanics and detect early signs of complications and emergencies, as well as support sales of specialized software.

Responsibilities

• Real-time drilling monitoring: reading and interpretation of GTI curves (geological and technological research)
• Analysis of mechanical drilling logs (mechlogs): bit load, torque, pressure, mechanical drilling speed, etc.
• Early detection of signs of complications: tightening, landing, gripping, absorption of drilling mud, signs of GNVP
• Promptly informing the supervisor/drilling crew and management about the identified risks, issuing recommendations on adjusting drilling parameters
• Participation in accident and incident investigations: data collection, cause analysis, preparation of reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence
• Preparing and conducting presentations for management on monitoring results, incidents, and optimization suggestions
• Interaction with the drilling crew, supervisors, geonavigators and related customer services
• Assessment of the economic efficiency of drilling processes, participation in the preparation of recommendations for reducing unproductive time (NIP)
• Technical support for software sales: participation in meetings with potential customers, demonstration of functionality, consulting on product application, gathering requirements and the ability to understand the needs of customers (drillers)

Requirements

• Work experience on a drilling site (field experience is required)
• A general understanding of the well construction processes and the economics of drilling (cost per day, NIP, the impact of complications on the project budget)
• Confident reading and interpretation of GTI and mechlog logging diagrams
• Understanding the early signs of complications (puffs/landings/grabs/engulfs/GNP) and response algorithms

• Developed communication skills, experience of interaction with the drilling crew and supervisors
• Experience in preparing and conducting presentations for the customer's management
• Readiness for shift/remote work in monitoring mode (if necessary)
• English - minimum B2

• Experience working with drilling monitoring software (Drillspot/SOLO and analogues)
• Well design experience (well planner, drilling engineer)
• Work experience in specialized design software: DOX, Compass, Bursoftproject
• Experience working with drilling data collection systems
