Embracer Group, a Swedish holding company known for its numerous gaming assets, has decided to part ways with another division, The Gearbox Entertainment Company.
The buyer of Gearbox was the company Take-Two Interactive, known for such game series as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, BioShock and NBA 2K. The transaction amount is $460 million.
After the sale, Gearbox will continue its activities under the 2K label, retaining the current management headed by CEO Randy Pitchford.
The division of Gearbox assets after the sale of Take-Two will take place as follows:

- The Embracer Group will include:Gearbox Publishing San Francisco (to be renamed)Publishing rights: Remnant, Hyper Light Breaker, a number of unannounced games by Cryptic Studios: Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, Lost Boys Interactive, Captured Dimensions
Randy Pitchford expressed confidence that the alliance with Take-Two and 2K will allow Gearbox to "rise to a new level." He noted that the companies have already worked together (in particular, on Borderlands) and achieved "outstanding results."
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick added that the acquisition of Gearbox will strengthen the company's creative potential and intellectual property portfolio.
