Astana Hub: Over 80,000 Kazakhstanis Trained in IT and AI in First Five Months of 2025
Since the beginning of 2025, more than 80,000 citizens of Kazakhstan have received training in key IT and artificial intelligence (AI) disciplines. Free educational programs by Astana Hub, supported by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, have become a vital tool of state policy for equipping the population with in-demand digital skills and preparing a workforce for the economy of the future.

Training is provided in practical areas such as programming, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and more. Courses are available in Kazakh, Russian, and English, and are designed for a broad audience—from beginners to specialists. The AI block has generated the most interest, reflecting the growing public demand for relevant digital competencies.
"For Astana Hub, education is not just about preparing tech professionals. We see it as a means of empowering people—regardless of age, profession, or experience. Today, as technology becomes an integral part of everyday life, it’s essential that every citizen has access to practical knowledge and understands how to use it effectively. The high interest in AI courses shows that Kazakhstanis are ready to adopt new tools and become active participants in digital transformation," said Daniya Akhmetova, Managing Director of Astana Hub.
The course AI Basics: ChatGPT, developed in partnership with Lerna and Skillbox, has already attracted 165,785 users, with 80,322 successfully completing it. The course includes two thematic modules and 51 video lessons, available in both Kazakh and Russian. Notably, the Kazakh translation was generated using neural networks. There is no time limit on the course—materials remain available to users permanently. Participants learn how to use neural networks in work and daily life, acquiring skills in prompt engineering and task automation.
Another significant milestone was the launch of the QazCoders program in March 2025. In a short period, more than 2,657 people began training, with the "AI Fundamentals" track proving most popular—1,618 users enrolled and 348 have already earned certificates. Courses are hosted on the Udacity platform and last 6–8 weeks. Mentorship, technical support, and an integrated AI assistant are provided throughout. QazCoders also offers courses in programming, data analysis, and Android development. The program is part of a collaboration between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates to share expertise in development and modernization.
Basic data skills are also receiving attention. Over 1,000 users have enrolled in the online course Introduction to Data Analysis and Python by Yandex Practicum. Launched just a month ago, enrollment continues to grow. The course lasts 10 hours and includes theoretical modules, tests, and four applied case studies. Learning is supported by the YandexGPT neural network. This marks Yandex Practicum’s first program tailored specifically for a Kazakhstani audience, expanding access to digital skills in the local language.
Astana Hub’s educational initiatives play a crucial role in developing human capital and technological literacy. As part of the national AI Movement initiative, Kazakhstan aims to train up to 1 million citizens in AI skills by 2029. Programs like Tomorrow School, AI People, and AI’preneurs are already helping achieve this goal by expanding access to IT education nationwide.
More information about all programs and courses is available in the Astana Hub mobile app (App Store and Google Play) under the AI Movement section.
