On July 14, the Alem.ai International Center for Artificial Intelligence hosted the official closing ceremony of the Northern Eurasia Camp (ICPC Training Camp in Kazakhstan), an international competitive programming training camp for the strongest university teams from the Northern Eurasia region. Participants, coaches, organizers, and partners gathered to review the results of the program.
The camp was designed to prepare participants for the ICPC World Finals and was conducted in a format closely replicating the conditions of the world championship. Teams strengthened their algorithmic skills, refined competition strategies, practiced role distribution, and enhanced teamwork through intensive programming contests.
"Our goal is to make alem.ai a launchpad for young talent and a hub that brings together outstanding IT professionals from around the world. Here, participants have the opportunity to learn from the best, exchange experience with the strongest teams, and prepare for international challenges. We will continue supporting initiatives that develop human capital, connect global talent, and help young professionals achieve their most ambitious goals," said Magzhan Madiev, CEO of Astana Hub.
The Northern Eurasia Camp brought together 20 teams, including winners and medalists of regional championships, as well as the strongest students and coaches from across Northern Eurasia. Participating teams represented HSE University, MIPT (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology), ITMO University, Novosibirsk State University, Ural Federal University, Kazakh-British Technical University, Astana IT University, Belarusian State University, Yerevan State University, and ADA University.
Throughout the camp, participants competed in onsite contests, analyzed problems, trained in the ICPC format, and worked in a technical environment closely resembling that of the ICPC World Finals. They also had the opportunity to explore the innovation ecosystem of Astana Hub and alem.ai.
"The camp exceeded our expectations. It is incredibly valuable to see participants gathering in Astana for the second consecutive year, with Astana Hub and Alem.ai providing a world-class technological venue and the support needed to make this possible. The value of such camps largely depends on the uniqueness and originality of the contest problems, so I would like to extend special thanks to the teams that prepared them. We sincerely wish all participants the best of luck in the upcoming World Finals and hope they achieve their full potential," said Tatyana Kolinkova, Head of Olympiad Community Relations at Yandex.
Held in Astana for the second consecutive year, the Northern Eurasia Camp has further strengthened the city's position as one of the region's leading hubs for training top IT talent. The inaugural camp featured the team from Saint Petersburg State University, which went on to become the absolute champion of the 2025 ICPC World Finals and remains the reigning world champion. This year, participants also included FFTilted from HSE University, the 2023 ICPC World Champions, who are preparing for their next appearance at the World Finals.
"We are proud that nearly all teams from our region that qualified for the World Finals are here today. For the second year in a row, we are pleased to jointly create a strong platform for developing competitive programming and preparing the region's top talent for the international finals," said Adina Magavina, CEO of Alem.ai Foundation.
Teams from Northern Eurasia have long been among the world's strongest in competitive programming. Since 2000, universities from the region have claimed the ICPC World Finals Absolute Championship 17 times. The Northern Eurasia Camp became one of the key stages of preparation for the 2026 ICPC World Finals, which will take place in Dubai, UAE, from November 15 to 20, 2026. By the end of the camp, participants had strengthened their teamwork, tested competition strategies, and gained valuable additional practice ahead of competing on the global stage.
The training camp was organized by Yandex, the ICPC General Partner for the Northern Eurasia Region, the Astana Hub International Innovation Cluster, and the Alem.ai Foundation.
