A landmark event in the fields of education and technology has taken place: an agreement has been signed between TUMO and Astana Hub, paving the way for the opening of the first international-level educational center of its kind in Central Asia. The new center in Astana is designed for teenagers and young people who aspire to acquire future-ready skills in technology and the creative industries, Kazpravda.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, education at TUMO Astana will be entirely free of charge and open to all teenagers interested in advancing in digital and creative technologies with the application of artificial intelligence. The program covers 11 key areas, including some of the most in-demand disciplines today: generative AI, game development, animation, filmmaking, 3D modeling, robotics, graphic and motion design, programming, music composition, and web development.
“TUMO is an innovative model of supplementary education developed in Armenia that has become an international benchmark for preparing teenagers for the digital future. Opening a center in Astana is an important step toward integrating Kazakhstan into the global educational community and enhancing digital literacy among young people. The TUMO Astana educational program is designed for students joining the project between the ages of 12 and 18 and will be completely free, ensuring broad access to modern digital and creative skills for all interested school students,” said Magzhan Madiev, CEO of Astana Hub.
Learning at TUMO is delivered through the TUMO Path platform, which enables each teenager to independently design and continuously refine a personalized educational trajectory based on individual interests and goals. Students reinforce their knowledge in practice with workshop leaders, working on real-world cases and building their own portfolios that reflect tangible achievements and progress.
Since its founding in 2011 in Yerevan, TUMO has established itself as a unique educational model for teenagers and has gained wide international recognition.
Today, TUMO is a global educational platform encompassing 18 centers across 7 countries and more than 80,000 graduates. TUMO centers operate successfully in France (Paris, Lyon, Marseille), Germany (Berlin, Mannheim, Hirschaid), Portugal (Lisbon, Coimbra), Albania (Tirana), Ukraine (Lviv), and, of course, Armenia, where six permanent centers and more than 35 mobile TUMO Boxes are in operation.
Now, for the first time in Central Asia, TUMO is opening in Kazakhstan. The center will be located in the building of the International Artificial Intelligence Center Alem.ai in Astana and is scheduled to begin operations in October 2025.
The project is being implemented as part of the Government of Kazakhstan’s strategic initiative to train 1 million citizens in digital skills over a five-year period.
