The results of the #NauryzDrive2025 contest: 600,000 tenge, living culture and soul on wheels

The #NauryzDrive2025 contest, organized by InDrive for the second time, has ended in Kazakhstan. Once again, it became not just a flash mob, but a real cultural phenomenon.

In the midst of Nauryz celebrations, participants across the country decorated their car interiors in an ethnic style — with ornaments, fabrics, national dishes, family heirlooms, dombra and flowers. For many, this became an occasion to return to the roots, recall traditions and, most importantly, show that culture lives not only in museums, but also in ourselves.

From March 26 to March 28, two special InDrive cars traveled around Almaty. One of them was decorated with bright tulips, the other with shanyrak and fabrics with national patterns. And inside there are treats: warm baursaks, as a reminder that the real care is in the little things.

The format of the competition proved to be especially relevant in today's world, where national identity increasingly intersects with urban dynamics, visual culture and digital reality. The participants didn't just decorate cars — they rethought how traditions can organically exist in everyday life.

@umbetooff, who took the third place according to the audience's choice, noted: "The contest encouraged many of us to remember our traditions and show them to the whole community, while not limiting ourselves to fantasy. The idea itself is very cool. You've done well. InDrive, I wish to become the number one in the whole world."

The winners of the competition received cash prizes totaling 600,000 tenge:

  • 🥇 @erkin.qazaq — for designing an ethnostyle motorhome. It was not just a salon, but a space in which history, philosophy and respect for the cultural code could be felt.
  • 🥈 @kdana08 — for a touching family video with children, in which the holiday is shown through the prism of comfort, warmth and values passed down from generation to generation.
  • 🥉 @umbetooff — by audience choice. His mini-movie garnered the most likes and comments. It was not just a video, but a full-fledged short story, emotionally and visually structured.

@erkin.qazaq, the winner of the contest, told:

"Just like last year, I found out about the contest literally at the last moment. After leaving everything to do and collecting everything I have at home (fortunately, I live with my parents, and we honor traditions), I began to decorate our motorhome. What was missing was collected all over the city. We wanted to integrate the national style into the car as concisely as possible and not overdo it, of course. We have been traveling on our bus for 2 years now and I keep a blog in Kazakh. By the way, our motorhome is called "Zhelmaya" in honor of the camel on which the great adviser to the Kazakh khans, Asan Kaygy, sought paradise on earth."

But the real strength of the contest wasn't just in the winners. Among the participants there is a large motorhome—yurt, interiors with national ornaments, Kazakh delicacies, musical instruments, talismans and amulets, embroidery and even elements of family archives. People shared what a holiday, home, and roots meant to them through aesthetics, format, and emotions.

The project was supported by well-known bloggers Ergazy Azimkhanuli @azimkhanovich and AZAMAT SARSENBAY @azafaza18, whose videos set the wave and attracted hundreds of subscribers to participate.

"We are holding #NauryzDrive for the second year in a row — and every time we see how important it is. People don't just want to be a part of something big, they want to speak through culture. This makes the contest much more than just an action," InDrive Kazakhstan noted.

The company also reminded that the service operates on the principle of fair prices: the passenger offers the cost of the trip, and the driver can agree or contribute his own. This ensures respect for choice and makes the service truly flexible and fair.
