Introduction

In today's new age, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have made a huge contribution in various fields, including a huge breakthrough in the art and publishing industries. Creating illustrations is one of the most developed AI services that allows you to create creative work automatically. Previously, illustrations were based entirely on human imagination and manual labor, but today this activity is being developed by technologies based on neural networks and special algorithmic systems. These technologies not only pave the way for the fast and high-quality creation of graphic materials, but also make it possible to implement new styles and ideas. AI systems such as DALL·E, Mid Journey and Adobe Firefly have entered the ranks of advanced assistants in creating illustrations. They not only simplify complex tasks and emphasize the creativity of designers and artists, but also offer new ideas and directions. These technologies create unique graphic images based on textual description, which has brought a new look and feel to illustration, especially in the field of printing. In addition, the introduction of AI in the field of illustration raises a number of ethical and legal questions. Aspects such as copyright issues, the authenticity of the works created and the observance of ethical boundaries, along with the endless possibilities of technology, also put forward tasks that need to be solved. This article explores the role and capabilities of AI in creating illustrations, including the use of systems such as DALL·E, Mid Journey, and Adobe Firefly. The advantages and disadvantages of using AI technologies are also analyzed, and their impact on the publishing industry is analyzed. The main goal of the work is to assess the future of AI — based illustrations and show how this technology is changing creative and production processes.

The main part

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technological tool that is usually engaged in the creation of programs and systems capable of performing tasks that require human intelligence. [1] AI is one of the unique technologies that has led to a change in human life in general. In addition to such services as knowledge, information transmission, data processing, this neural system is also an assistant in the creative direction. In particular, artificial intelligence technologies have significantly influenced the field of art and creativity in recent years, opening up new opportunities. For example, systems such as DALL-E, Mid Journey, and Adobe Firefly allow you to create graphic images from text descriptions. These technologies automated illustration creation and accelerated creative processes. Especially the DALL-e system gives that it makes it easier to create videos according to different topics and expands creative boundaries. These neural functions have a specificity and function.

DALL – E is one of the neurosetters, which is capable of creating high-quality videos by text description. The system is free to use and is effective for working on any computer during use. In addition, he helps to hold an editorial position. [3]

Mid Journey is a new and innovative company that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. Its main product is a visual content creation platform based on AI, which allows users to implement their ideas visually. Midjourney's goal is to simplify and update creative processes in the fields of art and design. [4]

Adobe Firefly is an innovative software that allows users to create video content simply by typing. Adding to Adobe's extensive collection of creative tools, Firefly allows users to combine AI-generated video with regular video, making it particularly attractive to media professionals. [5]

In general, now there are quite a lot of artificial intelligence tours in any direction, for example,in the film industry, in the media, advertising, social networks, just because there are ways to use it

The function and influence of artificial intelligence in publishing

In addition to other industries, AI technologies have had a significant impact in publishing, giving a new direction to the process of creating illustrations. Design or visual graphic images of the publishing business are gaining creative freedom with the help of AI technology. In addition, these neural systems serve as assistants in the process of writing, as well as editorial work in publishing. Through AI, artists or illustrators, or representatives of other creative directions, can use only their own techniques that are not repeated. For example, in typographic works in publishing, it is possible to create a large-scale image of a book using AI if necessary.

This is due to the fact that he is able to create images in several styles at once, he just needs to be able to choose the desired design and color. This kind of work can be used not only by a specialist in the field, but also by any audience. In general, AI not only draws a picture of a book in publishing, but also exaggerates its impact on the reader. The unique polythra and unique images will reveal its inner content. For example, the books of the Folio publishing house showed that they are in a new direction through AI. The publishing house creates spiritual and abstract illustrations of Kazakh National ornaments in a unique modern direction, creating their covers with the help of AI. They are adding new bright shades, making the children's cover more attractive and increasing their sales. As we have seen, AI in the publishing house not only facilitates production, but also contributes to sales. Thanks to this, interest in ancient books is growing.

AI and copyright

The issues of AI and copyright have been one of the most hot topics of discussion lately. The granting or not of copyright to works created through AI is treated differently in different countries.

Copyright belongs to the person who created the work, that is, the author. According to the laws of many countries, only a person can act as an author. Artificial intelligence is a tool, that is, he himself cannot be the author. [6]

If AI creates works under the supervision or with the help, direction of a person, then copyright can be obtained by the person or organization that contributed to the process of creating the work. For example: if the user of the AI comes up with a creative idea himself, he is recognized as the author of the work, if the AI program was created by the company or used its resources, that company may be the copyright holder. [7]

Works created by US AI are not copyrighted. For example, in 2023, the US Copyright Office refused to grant the rights to an image created through MidJourney. [7]

Kazakhstan does not yet have a clear legal framework for AI and copyright, but international experience is used as a model.

Conclusion

AI technologies in publishing have helped create design and illustrations in a rational and high-quality way, making creative freedom and production processes more efficient.. Thanks to the choice of the desired style and color, AI gives any user the opportunity to present unique images. It is especially valuable in the publishing house, marketing and media industries.. Also, the widespread use of AI in the creative industry raises ethical and legal questions. . Specific legislative framework is being developed in many states on copyright issues. The issue of granting or not granting rights to works created through AI is being considered in different countries from different points of view. In our country, this direction has not yet been fully normalized, but the world experience is used as an example. Legislative regulation work in this direction, along with improving the ability to use AI technologies, should have an impact on solving legal and ethical problems of the creative direction.

In summary, AI technologies have become a revolutionary tool in the field of printing and illustration, making the work of designers and artists a little easier. However, the main focus should be on the use of these new technologies in accordance with ethical standards and copyright protection. In the future, with an increase in the role of AI in the creative and industrial spheres, its legal regulation and boundaries of responsibility become more defined. Development in this area requires balanced approaches not only in the technological, but also in the cultural and legal aspect.
