Astana Hub is actively looking for a Programming Workshop Leader at the TUMO Center in Astana. TUMO is an innovative center for continuing education, which allows teenagers to independently pave the way for learning. Founded in 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia, TUMO has since expanded worldwide, opening centers in Berlin, Paris, Lisbon and other cities. At the TUMO Astana Center, students choose from a variety of interdisciplinary fields, including animation, 3D modeling, programming, robotics, cinematography, graphic design, music, game development, drawing and photography, combining independent study with workshops conducted by professionals.

TUMO's mission is to unlock the full potential of learning in the world by providing innovative educational resources accessible to everyone.

Programming Workshop Leader will conduct classes, mentor teenagers and evaluate their work in the field of programming. Accompanying students aged 12 to 18 in learning programming concepts, developing problem solving skills, and gaining confidence in their technical skills.

The key task of Programming Workshop Leader is to effectively conduct programming workshops, inspire and guide teenagers in learning code, developing problem solving skills and creatively applying technical knowledge, monitoring student attendance and progress, ensuring their systematic support and successful completion of the educational program.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting month-long program workshops in accordance with the established curricula and goals of the center.

  • Evaluation of students' projects at the end of each master class with constructive feedback.

  • Analysis of students' progress in self-study and weekly counseling.

  • Conducting demonstrations and events that arouse interest and creative thinking in programming and computer science.

  • Creating a friendly and vibrant educational environment.

  • Participation in the initial training at the TUMO headquarters in Yerevan, Armenia.

  • Performing other tasks, if necessary, related to conducting workshops and supporting the center's program.

Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (Master's degree is welcome), or more than three years of relevant professional experience.

  • The main JavaScript stack.

  • Experience working with Node.js and express modules, socket.io .

  • Knowledge and practical experience of using Visual Studio Code, Git and GitHub / Bitbucket.

  • Terminal/CLI skills.

  • Knowledge of visualization tools based on HTML canvas, experience with the library p5.js - an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of algorithms, logic, data structures, mathematics.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, oral and presentation speech in Kazakh and Russian; knowledge of English at least B1 is mandatory.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to motivate and inspire students.

  • The salary level is discussed based on the results of successful completion of the selection stages and depends on your qualifications;
