Astana Hub to train more than 100 venture investors

Students of the VC School educational course from Kazakhstan and CIS countries will soon be able to profitably invest their finances in technological projects. These are entrepreneurs who are ready to share their knowledge, experience and finances with startups, as well as existing investors who want to upgrade their skills.

On September 28, Astana Hub launched the fifth VC School stream. The course is held in a hybrid format: offline for 20 participants from Almaty, and online for the rest of the regions.

In total, about 200 applications were received for participation in VC School from countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Despite the fact that venture investors in the world are mostly men, 25% of VC School students are girls. Among them are entrepreneurs, managers of large organizations, engineers, analysts, lawyers, founders of their own startups.

Introduction to venture investments, the features of the innovation ecosystem, the rules for the formation of the pipeline of projects and the subtleties of a detailed analysis of a startup - that's what future investors have already learned in two days of the fifth stream of the school.

In addition to the flow of new information, the participants had a unique opportunity to communicate live with the top investors of the CIS. Founder of the YellowRockets Group Sergey Bogdanov, Managing Partner of the YellowRockets venture fund.vc Dmitry Sutormin and FRI portfolio Manager Ilya Korolev have prepared a rich training program, covering all the obvious and non-obvious sides of the world of venture investments.

We have been cooperating with Astana Hub for several years. Previously, we jointly conducted 3 sets for the Acceleration program, worked with startups, helped them reach a new level. Now we are coming to the front “from the other side” - from the point of view of analyzing startups suitable for investment, - says Sergey Bogdanov. - Today, the number of technological startups in Kazakhstan is growing by leaps and bounds. Accordingly, we need new competent investors who will be able to ensure the development of these projects.
The third day of VC School is dedicated to legal issues and popular formats of structuring transactions. In addition, participants will study such a concept as “portfolio management”, analyze successful strategies of venture market participants and exit strategies.

The prospects for the development of the ecosystem of venture investors in Kazakhstan are high. Developed infrastructure, a strong educational base, bright startups that are already entering the international market today - all this creates favorable conditions for the creation of a new domestic pool of venture investors," notes Dmitry Sutormin.
