From July 7 to 15, 2026, the international artificial intelligence center Alem.ai in Astana is hosting the Northern Eurasia Camp (ICPC Training Camp in Kazakhstan) — an international competitive programming training camp for the strongest teams in Northern Eurasia. The event is organized by Yandex, Astana Hub, and the Alem.ai Foundation.
The Northern Eurasia Camp simulates the conditions of the ICPC World Finals, allowing the strongest student teams to improve their algorithmic skills, competitive strategies, and teamwork. Hosting the bootcamp contributes to the development of competitive programming in Kazakhstan and the region, while also strengthening the country's position as one of the centers for training IT talent in Northern Eurasia.
The bootcamp will feature 20 teams, including winners and runners-up of regional championships, as well as the strongest students and coaches from Northern Eurasian countries. Among the participants are teams from HSE University, MIPT, ITMO University, Novosibirsk State University, Ural Federal University (Russia), KBTU and Astana IT University (Kazakhstan), Belarusian State University (Belarus), Yerevan State University (Armenia), and ADA University (Azerbaijan).
The Northern Eurasia Camp is being held in Astana for the second consecutive year and has already established itself as a platform for preparing the region's leading teams. The inaugural bootcamp was attended by the St. Petersburg State University team, which subsequently became the absolute winner of the ICPC World Finals 2025 and currently holds the title of reigning world champions. Among the bootcamp participants is the FFTilted team from HSE University — the 2023 world champions, who are attending to prepare for their next performance at the world finals.
Teams from Northern Eurasia are traditionally among the global leaders in competitive programming. Since 2000, representatives of universities from the region have become absolute champions of the ICPC World Finals 17 times, confirming Northern Eurasia's leadership position in global competitive programming. Hosting the Northern Eurasia Camp in Astana continues this tradition and promotes international cooperation in training highly qualified IT specialists.
The bootcamp program includes:
-
In-person contests;
-
Problem analyses;
-
Practical training in the ICPC format;
-
Working in a technical environment that closely mirrors the conditions of the ICPC World Finals;
-
Introduction to the Astana Hub ecosystem;
-
A closing event and Gala Dinner.
The Northern Eurasia Camp will be one of the key stages of preparation for participants ahead of the world competitive programming championship finals — The 2026 ICPC World Finals, which will take place from November 15 to 20, 2026, in Dubai (UAE). The intensive program will allow teams to refine their competitive strategies, increase teamwork efficiency, and maximize their preparedness for performing on the global stage.
