The hackathon is dedicated to the first national technology forum Digital Qazaqstan, which will be held on March 27, 2026, in Shymkent, where the official launch of Decentrathon will also take place. This season, Decentrathon 5.0 will cover Shymkent, Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Zhezkazgan, Karaganda, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Konaev, Taldykorgan, Taraz, Turkistan, and Uralsk. More than 3,000 developers and 1,500 teams are expected to participate, creating solutions in two key areas — AI and Blockchain.
“This is one of the largest IT events in the country, which for several years has brought together developers from all regions of Kazakhstan. This format enables the consolidation of human capital and strengthens expertise in the field of artificial intelligence. In line with the priorities outlined by the President within the framework of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, engaging the professional community in the development and promotion of domestic digital solutions is of particular importance. Globally, there is a growing trend toward crowdsourcing approaches, and it is important that this becomes part of our national practice. This will provide an additional boost to the quality and demand for technological products,” emphasized Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The hackathon will be held in a new format: the opening event will be a ceremonial launch in Shymkent on March 27, where participants can expect a festive program, pizza, and the distribution of limited-edition merchandise. Teams will then continue their work online: over the following nine days, participants will develop their projects, receive support, and refine their solutions for the final presentation.
The event is being held as part of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan, contributing to the development of domestic digital technologies and the formation of a new generation of IT professionals.
