We spoke with Ahmed, a graduate of the Tech Orda program who began by learning software development independently and gaining experience in project management. Today, he develops digital products as a Product Manager. Ahmed shared how the program helped him structure his knowledge, create his own app, rank first in his cohort, and move on to working with cutting-edge AI solutions.
Ahmed, what did you do before joining Tech Orda?
— Before joining the program, I ran my own water delivery business. At the same time, I was taking my first steps in IT: I studied iOS development independently and later began working remotely as a Project Manager with a team of people I knew. This allowed me to gain hands-on project management experience and develop a deeper understanding of internal workflows.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in IT and apply to Tech Orda?
— I realized that I wanted to grow professionally, work on large-scale digital products, and reach my full potential in product management.
I had known about Tech Orda for quite some time. I had previously been awarded a grant, but due to personal circumstances, I was unable to begin the program. When I had the opportunity to apply again, I did so with a clear purpose: I wanted to fill the gaps in my knowledge, systematize the experience I had already gained, and build a strong professional foundation.
What was the learning experience like, and what did you find most valuable?
— The program was intensive and highly practice-oriented. The most valuable aspect for me was the structured approach to product thinking — from identifying user problems and validating hypotheses to working with metrics and designing solution architecture.
During the program, I developed my own project, Aloma, a mobile app for learning English. It adapts its content to each user’s professional background and personal interests. The project did not remain merely an academic exercise: the app has now been officially released and is available on the App Store.
What challenges did you face during the program, and how did you overcome them?
— The main challenges were the heavy workload and lack of time. The period leading up to the final presentation was especially demanding: for three consecutive days, I slept only three to four hours a night because I wanted to refine every detail of the project.
Having a clear goal and maintaining discipline helped me manage the workload. In the end, all the effort paid off — I ranked first in my cohort based on the jury’s evaluation.
What was the most significant result you achieved after completing the program?
— The most significant result was substantial career growth. I was already employed by a company while studying, and the knowledge and skills I gained helped me transition internally to the product department and take on the role of Product Manager. My salary increased along with my new position.
For me, this confirmed that the program not only provides valuable knowledge but also creates new career opportunities.
How do you apply the knowledge and skills you gained?
— Today, I work full-time as a Product Manager and apply these skills every day: I formulate and validate product hypotheses, design new features, and bring them to market.
One of my major system-level responsibilities was developing a new analytics layer for the product, which I designed and built from the ground up. I am now taking on an even more ambitious and technologically advanced challenge: working directly with external AI providers and vendors to integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies into our product.
It is an invaluable experience to be at the forefront of the industry, work with the technologies of tomorrow, and create solutions with the potential to set new market standards.
What advice would you give to future Tech Orda participants?
— Join the program with a clear understanding of your goals, rather than simply to try something new. Make the most of every module, do not be afraid to take on challenging practical tasks, and remember that your results largely depend on your personal commitment and discipline.
