Launch of Khan Tengri Innovation Hub in Shanghai: A New Strategic Bridge Between China and Central Eurasia

In the Zhangjiang Science and Technology Park, known as the “Silicon Valley of Asia”, the official opening ceremony of the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub took place. This is the first dedicated platform aimed at integrating the technological potential of Central Eurasian countries with the ecosystem of China, the world’s second-largest economy.

The initiative is led by the Kazakhstani company Growth Vision Pro, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as leading regional tech hubs: Astana Hub (Kazakhstan) and IT Park Uzbekistan.

Khan Tengri Innovation Hub is being established as a next-generation platform for technological diplomacy, connecting startups, innovative enterprises, and R&D centers from Central Eurasia with the Chinese market and its global opportunities. This landmark initiative reflects the growing demand for sustainable technological cooperation across regions.

“The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub will serve as a vital link between startups and entrepreneurs from our region and Chinese investors, while also providing access to incubation and acceleration programs. We believe this hub will play a key role in promoting our tech products in the Chinese market,” stated Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan.

Key Objectives of the Hub:

  1. Facilitate cross-border technology transfer in digitalization, high-tech industries, and R&D;

  2. Support the entry of Central Asian IT companies and startups into the Chinese market;

  3. Enable the “soft landing” of Chinese tech companies into Eurasian markets and beyond—to Europe and the MENA region—via the “Middle Corridor”;

  4. Foster joint R&D projects, technology exchange, and venture capital investment;

  5. Increase the visibility of Central Eurasian countries within China.

One of the highlights of the opening day was the panel session titled “Beyond Borders: Building Agile Tech Ecosystems in a Changing World”, featuring Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub. During the discussion, panelists explored prospects for cross-border cooperation, the importance of flexibility in IT infrastructure development, and the value of openness to international partnerships.

“China is a global leader in AI development and digital transformation, driven by its massive domestic market and one of the world’s largest GDPs. Khan Tengri Hub aims to become a strategic gateway into China and Southeast Asia for Central Asian tech companies, and a reliable conduit for Chinese innovative businesses entering our region. By strengthening regional collaboration, we are working with key partners like IT Park Uzbekistan to build an ecosystem where Central Asian startups can scale globally,” said Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub.

The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub will provide a launchpad for companies from Kazakhstan and Central Asia to confidently enter and grow within the Chinese market. It is designed to remove the major barriers of entry into one of the world’s most complex and competitive environments, making global opportunities more accessible to Eurasian startups and tech companies.

The hub offers everything necessary for work and living within one of China’s premier high-tech zones: modern offices, coworking spaces, and serviced apartments, allowing participants to focus fully on product development without operational distractions.

Most importantly, the hub provides comprehensive support at every stage: from legal and tax consulting to facilitating connections with Chinese investors, manufacturing partners, and accelerators. This holistic support model is known as a “soft landing” into unfamiliar business environments.

“Khan Tengri Innovation Hub opens new horizons for technological partnership between Central Asia and China. For Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, this is not merely a presence in the world’s largest market—it is a platform for knowledge transfer, joint innovation, and scaling startups to the international stage. Through strategic collaboration with China’s leading innovation centers, Uzbek and Kazakh startups will gain access to global infrastructure and new growth opportunities,” said Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan.

In addition to infrastructure, the hub offers access to educational and acceleration programs designed to help companies adapt and scale more rapidly. In partnership with Chinese accelerator XNode, the hub offers tailored programs for various stages of business readiness—from the short-term China Market Entry Bootcamp (focused on market analysis and entry strategy) to the China Launchpad (focused on market launch and expansion). Participants benefit from expert mentorship, workshops, business matchmaking, and deep immersion into the Chinese tech ecosystem.

Khan Tengri Innovation Hub provides access to the largest consumer market in the world, helping companies attract investment, find partners, and begin exporting technological solutions. For many, it’s a launchpad to becoming global players.
