Open Dialogue: Minister Zhaslan Madiyev Meets with Tech Industry to Discuss Sector Development
As part of the Astana International Forum, a roundtable discussion was held at Astana Hub with the participation of the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiyev, and representatives of the tech sector. The discussion brought together around 50 participants — from government officials and industry associations to leading IT companies and members of the business community.

The event was conducted in an open dialogue format. Participants outlined key priorities, challenges, and potential solutions, including topics such as reforming the Trusted Software Registry, supporting the electronics industry, redistributing tech functions between the public and private sectors, and updating the architecture of e-government and digital services for citizens.
Special attention was given to initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence. The Minister presented the work being carried out in three core areas: institutional development, infrastructure, and human capital. Kazakhstan has established a dedicated government body — the Committee for AI and Creative Industry Development — approved a national AI development concept, and is working on terminology, standards, and ethical guidelines. The country is also actively building infrastructure: a supercomputing platform has been launched in Silicon Valley, and the most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia, powered by NVIDIA H200 GPUs for high-performance AI computing, has been delivered to Kazakhstan.
Continuing the discussion, the Minister presented the concept of the alem.ai International Center for Artificial Intelligence, which will serve as the core of the national AI ecosystem. The center will unite a public space, educational programs such as Tomorrow School and TUMO Center, an AI campus for startups, scientific R&D laboratories, and a GovTech space — AI-Driven Government, where solutions for the public sector will be developed and implemented.
“Today, we not only want to share updates on AI development, but also establish a collaborative approach with the industry. We plan to hold such meetings regularly to align with market needs and move forward together. Dialogue is a core principle in our work: we are committed to constructive feedback and real initiatives from the professional community. Only through joint efforts can we ensure the systemic development of the industry and create in-demand technologies — both within the country and globally,” emphasized Zhaslan Madiyev.
During the meeting, representatives of industry associations, experts, and private sector leaders actively shared proposals and raised current issues. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, during which new initiatives were voiced, existing barriers were identified, and potential solutions were proposed.
As a result of the meeting, all parties agreed to join efforts in addressing priority tasks and formulating concrete proposals aimed at advancing Kazakhstan’s tech sector.
