Alex Mashrabov, co-founder of Higgsfield, a company within the ecosystem of the Astana Hub international innovation cluster, has received citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The company is valued at $5.4 billion.
“Higgsfield’s story is inseparable from Kazakhstan. My co-founder Yerzat and our team have demonstrated the strength of the engineering talent here and the boundless ambition. Here, we found exceptional creative talent that shaped Higgsfield’s DNA. There has also been incredible, heartfelt support from people outside Higgsfield. We see how millions of Kazakhstanis believe in us, and we are immensely grateful for Astana Hub’s support. Back in 2023, I realized that this was where we would build our company’s foundation, and time has shown that it was absolutely the right decision. I am deeply grateful to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his trust. It is a tremendous source of pride for me to officially call this country my home and become part of Kazakhstan,” said Alex Mashrabov.
Alex Mashrabov and Kazakhstani AI engineer Yerzat Dulat met as school students at international programming and physics olympiads. In 2023, they founded Higgsfield together with Mahi de Silva. Almaty has been the company’s main engineering center since its inception. The team trains AI models and develops products there, while Mashrabov, working from the United States, helped establish the company and expand its international presence.
Higgsfield is an Astana Hub participant and a portfolio company of Astana Hub Ventures, which invested $500,000 in the project. The company’s co-founder Yerzat Dulat participated in Astana Hub’s R&D program in 2020–2021.
The company develops a platform for creating visual content using artificial intelligence. Its products are used by more than 40 million people across 238 countries and territories. In August 2026, Higgsfield raised $400 million in a Series B round at a valuation of $5.4 billion. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.
In October, Alex Mashrabov presented the company’s results to the President of Kazakhstan at AI & Digital Bridge 2026. At the closing ceremony, the Prime Minister presented Higgsfield with the “International Breakthrough of the Year” award.
The co-founders combine expertise in AI development and bringing technology products to global markets. Yerzat Dulat, a graduate of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School and Higgsfield’s Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for developing and improving AI technologies. Alex Mashrabov oversees the company’s international growth and turns technological advances into products for a broad audience.
Before founding Higgsfield, Mashrabov co-founded AI Factory, a startup acquired by Snap, the company behind Snapchat, for $166 million. Following the acquisition, he led generative AI at Snap.
