5G center to be opened in Kazakhstan at Astana Hub

The partnership agreement was signed by the Astana Hub international technopark and the MTS StartUp Hub innovation and investment center. As part of the cooperation, it is planned to open a 5G Center in Nur-Sultan to select, test and refine the solutions of technology companies and startups in Kazakhstan on fifth generation networks.


The agreement was signed at the site of the international technological forum Digital Bridge-2021, which was organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Zerde National Infocommunication Holding JSC and the international technopark of IT start-ups Astana Hub.

“The 5G center will allow creating IT solutions using the latest technologies: the Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D modeling. For IT developers, this will open up new opportunities for professional growth, and for users - the convenience and speed of services and applications. The launch of the 5G Center with MTS StartUp Hub in Nur-Sultan is scheduled for early 2022,” said Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub.

MTS StartUp Hub and Astana Hub have already begun searching for startups providing AR, VR, XR services, entertainment and media, industry and digital real estate solutions. “Partnership with Astana Hub expands the MTS StartUp Hub international technology scouting program, now we will select the best digital projects in Kazakhstan as well. Kazakh teams will be able to become residents of our 5G Centers in Russia, refine their solutions using the infrastructure, resources and networks of the fifth generation of MTS and launch a pilot with Russian companies. We are also ready to share our expertise to launch the 5G Center in Astana, I am sure this site will give a powerful impetus to the development of innovations in Kazakhstan,” commented Dmitry Kurin, Director of Innovation and Investment at MTS.

Startups from Russia can become residents of Astana Hub and receive support in the form of special tax incentives, workspaces, development programs, access to the protection of foreign investments on the principles of English law from the AIFC and other preferences.

Network coverage at the 5G Center will be provided not only indoors, but also in the surrounding area, thanks to which startups will be able to test solutions using drones and drones.

It is worth noting that earlier Bagdat Musin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, announced the launch of 5G testing in certain locations in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and Turkestan.
