Participants of Astana Hub saved 3.3 billion tenge on tax preferences
The number of participants in the international technopark of IT start-ups Astana Hub has reached 369 IT companies. All participants of the technopark receive tax preferences.
Preferences exempt participants from paying taxes such as CIT, VAT, VAT on imports of goods, royalty tax, PIT and social tax for non-residents.
As of October 1, 2020, the participants of the technopark saved 3 billion 294 million tenge.
The main purpose of the preferences is to provide an opportunity for technology companies to save and reinvest in the development of their projects.
A preferential tax regime for Technopark participants is provided on the basis of extraterritoriality within Kazakhstan. In other words, to receive preferences, it is not necessary to be on the territory of the Astana Hub or the capital: you can work anywhere in Kazakhstan. This measure is valid until the end of 2024.
Of the 369 participating companies of Astana Hub, half of the companies are located in such regions of Kazakhstan as Almaty, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, etc.
To become a member of Astana Hub, you need to go through a simple online registration process on the Astana Hub web portal with the submission of a minimum package of documents (the list of which can be found on the Astana Hub web portal).
In the meantime, a potential participant needs to check their company for compliance with the initial requirements.
It must be a legal entity without branches, the company must not be a subsoil user, a SEZ participant, an excise payer, and 50 percent or more of the company's shares must not be owned by the state or quasi-state organizations. Also, one of the most important criteria is the compliance of the company's income with the List of priority activities in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).
“This is a special list, which is approved by the Ministry of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry. There are 19 such types in total. The list covers a fairly wide range of activities, ranging from software development and the creation of information systems to the development of video games and the implementation of hardware and software systems based on blockchain technology. The full list can be found on our website,” the press service of the Astana Hub Technopark said.
