Ulytau Hub: Digital technology and tech entrepreneurship center opens in Ulytau Region

Ulytau Hub, the seventeenth regional IT hub in Kazakhstan, has officially opened in Zhezkazgan. The center was established with the support of Astana Hub, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, and the Akimat of Ulytau Region. Designed to support startups, enhance tech education, and strengthen the region’s technological ecosystem, Ulytau Hub is located at 99 Abay Street and is open to all who are interested in technological innovation.

The primary goal of Ulytau Hub is to foster a thriving tech community, promote startup culture, and stimulate technological entrepreneurship while advancing digital education in the region.

Dastan Adayuly, Akim of Ulytau Region, remarked, “The opening of Ulytau Hub is not just an event but a new chapter in the development of our region. We are creating an environment where young talents and entrepreneurs can access the resources and support they need to realize their ambitions in the tech sector. I believe Ulytau Hub will become a hub for ideas that can strengthen Ulytau's economy and make it more sustainable and modern.”

The new center will host a variety of programs and events, including incubation programs, training courses, seminars, meetups, workshops, Speaker Talks, Idea Battle, Pizza Pitch, forums, hackathons, international Olympiads, and more. These activities aim to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among members of the regional technology ecosystem.

Aida Dusova, Director of the Regional Development Office at Astana Hub, emphasized, “Ulytau Hub is an important milestone in building dynamic tech ecosystems across Kazakhstan. Our mission is to support innovative ideas and foster technological entrepreneurship at the local level. We see Ulytau Hub as a platform where talents and ideas can flourish, empowering the region’s tech community to achieve growth and success.”

Currently, IT hubs are operational in 16 regions of Kazakhstan, with the eighteenth and final hub set to open in Petropavlovsk by the end of the year. These centers are a vital component of the national technology ecosystem, playing a key role in nurturing local communities and enhancing digital competencies.

Since their inception, regional IT hubs have hosted over 1,700 events, including nine international forums in information and communication technologies, which have attracted more than 50,000 participants and showcased 440 startups. These efforts have helped integrate nearly 200 tech companies into the Astana Hub ecosystem, significantly contributing to the growth of Kazakhstan’s tech industry.

In his recent State of the Nation Address, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscored the importance of developing innovative infrastructure in the regions, highlighting the need to support young talents and foster technological entrepreneurship. The opening of Ulytau Hub is a vital part of this national initiative to strengthen Kazakhstan’s innovative potential.
