AI Collaboration Between France and Kazakhstan Discussed at Astana Hub

On April 2, Astana Hub hosted a roundtable discussion titled “AI Action Summit in Paris: Development Prospects for Kazakhstan.” The event was organized by the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan and Astana Hub, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Participants reviewed the key outcomes of the AI Action Summit held in Paris in February 2025 and outlined areas for future Kazakh-French collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence. The summit brought together representatives from over 100 countries and 1,000 participants worldwide, highlighting the growing interest in developing ethical, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to AI.

“We are actively working to build a robust artificial intelligence ecosystem in our country. One of our key initiatives is the creation of the international AI center alem.ai, which will support research, help startups grow, and bring together experts from around the world. Our main goal is to provide AI education and upskilling opportunities to 200,000 citizens annually, including students, professionals, and civil servants. We want everyone to be able to appreciate the value and benefits of artificial intelligence,” said Kanysh Tuleushin, First Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan and France see strong potential for joint development in this field, and both sides presented initiatives aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

“France is currently one of the European leaders in artificial intelligence, thanks to strong government support, the energy of its startup ecosystem, and the development of research centers. The Paris Summit served as a platform for establishing a global framework for the ethical and sustainable advancement of AI. We are pleased that Kazakhstan not only participated but also confirmed its commitment to playing an active role in this process. Looking ahead, we see new opportunities to further expand French-Kazakh cooperation in this strategic domain,” noted Sylvain Guiaugué, Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan.

The discussion also featured contributions from Tanat Uskembayev, Managing Director of Astana Hub, Jérôme Boyer, Central Asia Director at Alstom, and Ivan Kononov, CEO of the startup HubLab.ai.

Speakers emphasized the importance of international cooperation in artificial intelligence and expressed their readiness to develop projects that foster knowledge exchange, scientific research, and the growth of AI infrastructure. Special attention was given to the role of tech hubs such as Astana Hub as platforms for the implementation of joint initiatives.
