Kazakhstan Has All the Conditions to Become a Leader in AI Technologies – BAQ.KZ
Specialists in every field must be able to use artificial intelligence tools.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stressed the need to begin integrating artificial intelligence into the real sector of the economy. According to him, this will radically modernize the economy and increase labor productivity. In an interview with a BAQ.KZ correspondent, Ilyas Makashev, IT expert and advisor to the CEO of Astana Hub, outlined the specific steps needed to achieve this.
Ilyas Makashev noted that the President’s directive is a key driver of the country’s technological transformation.
“In my view, three main steps are essential in this direction. First, talent development: expanding educational programs in universities and schools to teach AI skills. Whether it’s medicine, education, or engineering — specialists in every field must be able to use artificial intelligence tools. Second, infrastructure development: drawing on Astana Hub’s experience, it is necessary to establish AI research centers, data processing hubs, and cloud computing platforms. Third, cross-sector integration: launching public-private partnership mechanisms to implement AI solutions in specific industries — manufacturing, energy, agriculture, and transportation,” explained the tech expert.
According to him, these measures will not only increase labor productivity but also help Kazakhstan become the leader in artificial intelligence technologies in Central Asia.
“Innovation is the key to the country’s competitiveness, and Astana Hub will remain a catalyst for this process,” Makashev added.
It should be recalled that a meeting on the development of artificial intelligence, chaired by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was recently held. More details are available on the BAQ.KZ platform.
