Annotation:

The article examines the current trends in the development of the industrial sector of the East Kazakhstan region (East Kazakhstan region). The key industries are analyzed — non-ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering, energy, as well as their role in the economy of the region and the country as a whole. Special attention is paid to the problems of modernization of production, environmental challenges and the investment climate.

Introduction

The East Kazakhstan region is a region with a high level of industrialization. Due to its natural resources, advantageous geographical location and historically established industrial traditions, East Kazakhstan Region occupies a leading position in the industry of Kazakhstan.

1. Industrial structure of the industry

Non-ferrous metallurgy occupies a central place, in particular, the extraction and processing of polymetals (zinc, lead, copper). The largest enterprises are Kazzinc JSC and Ust-Kamenogorsk Metallurgical Complex.

Mechanical engineering is represented by plants in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey, producing electrical equipment, automotive equipment, and mining equipment.

The power industry is based on hydroelectric power plants, including Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shulbinskaya HPPs.

2. Economic and social importance

The industrial sector of East Kazakhstan region provides more than 20% of the gross regional product. It forms the tax base, employment of the population and promotes the development of related industries.

3. Challenges and prospects

Equipment wear and low level of automation

Environmental impact on the region, especially near metallurgical enterprises

The need for industrial diversification

The development prospects are related to the introduction of industry 4.0, attracting foreign investment, the creation of industrial zones and the development of environmentally friendly technologies.

The industry of the East Kazakhstan region is a strategic asset not only of the region, but of the whole country. Its sustainable development is possible under the condition of modernization, innovative approach and ecological balance.
