UMAY Labs is hosting a lecture-workshop at International Information Technology University (IITU) for students looking for a startup idea and guidance on developing it with a mentor.

Program:

- Finding an idea: from a user problem to a solution hypothesis.

- Validation: how to test demand for a product and assess an idea's viability before launch.

- Choosing a mentor: what experience to look for and how to formulate a request for help.

- Working with a mentor through launch: how to prepare for meetings, discuss next steps and assess the value of recommendations.

The session ends with Q&A and a discussion of how to apply mentoring support to participants' own projects.

Agile is often perceived as a tool for IT corporations with large teams, scrum masters, and complex regulations. But can it work in a company of 5–20 people? How can a small business respond to market changes faster without drowning in endless conference calls and task boards?

At the workshop, we will explore what Agile is in practice and how it differs from the usual "planning a year ahead." We will look at key approaches and digital tools: Scrum, Kanban, and their simplified versions suitable for small teams. We will discuss how to establish short work cycles, prioritize tasks, and regularly receive feedback from clients.

Special attention will be given to implementation: where to start, how to engage the team, and how not to turn Agile into a mere formality for the sake of ticking a box. We will also discuss typical mistakes and situations where agile methodologies are not suitable for the business.
