Astana Venture Club Celebrates First Anniversary

A gala event was held at the Astana Hub international technology park to mark the first anniversary of the Astana Venture Club, a community of business angels dedicated to investing in and supporting promising technology entrepreneurs.

The event was attended by investors, business community leaders, venture capital and investment professionals, philanthropists, and representatives of Kazakhstan's IT community.

“Business angel investments enable startups to scale up more rapidly and enter new markets. Projects in IT, fintech, and AI are particularly attractive to investors. Not only can investors and startups profit, but so can the users of their products. Over the past year, we organized two cohorts of the business angel school and trained about 100 individuals. The club's business angels have made several transactions. There are about 40 active members in the club who finance startups,” said Nurasyl Jarbasov, founder and head of the Astana Venture Club.

The event featured a panel session titled “Current Trends and Prospects for Venture Capital Investment: The Impact of AI and Criteria for Success,” moderated by BGlobal Ventures CEO Abay Absamet. The panel included Managing Director of Astana Hub Tanat Uskembayev, co-founder and managing partner of the international investment company Raison Andrey Berezin, and business angel Elzhan Kushekbaev.

The speakers discussed new trends in the IT sector and the crucial role of venture funds in scaling startup projects. The Astana Venture Club announced strategic plans for a partnership with Astana Hub and BGlobal Ventures, aiming to provide Kazakh startups with access to international markets through their combined efforts.

Established in May last year to foster innovative projects, the Astana Venture Club has quickly become a key player in the development of Kazakhstan's venture culture.
