How does Astana Hub develop the culture of venture investments?

In the international technopark of IT start-ups Astana Hub summed up the results of Invest Day, a private event for investment-attractive startups and investors.

Invest Day brings together Kazakh and foreign investors, as well as young entrepreneurs with products in the IT field, on one online platform. The main purpose of the event is to organize a business platform for investment-attractive start-ups and venture investors who are ready to invest in projects. The uniqueness of this year is that not only Kazakh but also foreign projects take part in Invest Day. So, for the first time, two Russian startups 7 Bolt and I'way, as well as the Blocksport project from Switzerland took part in Invest Day.

80 applications were received for participation in Invest Day 2021 from startups from 8 countries of Central Asia, the CIS and Switzerland. A total of 12 technological projects were selected: i'way, Naimi.kz, Paloma365, Kid Security, Connected Home, terenoi, Blocksport.io, 7 Bolt, Credo, Tuvis, Hustle Free, Rocket Study. All 12 startups presented their business projects to 25 investors from countries such as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, India and the United Kingdom.

“It was an interesting experience of participating in the international Invest Day in Kazakhstan: the event is attended by investors not only from Kazakhstan, but also from abroad. I would like to note the high level of the event and the preparation of startups. I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of investors who were present during our pitch. One of the foundations present at the event became interested in us: it plans to hold a more detailed meeting with us,” said Volodymyr Lyulka, founder of the B2B SaaS platform for activating, engaging and monetizing the community of sports fans, as well as integrating sponsors, players and partners of clubs.

The key partners of the event were: UVCA, InVentures, TA Ventures, iClub, Khazar Ventures, Central Asian Investors and Business Angels Club, QazAngels Business Angels Club, MOST Ventures, KASE, Exploration by Combat, Yellow Rockets, and leading business angels from Kazakhstan and CIS

“For us, Invest Day from Astana Hub was interesting not only for the presented projects, but also for getting to know active investors in Kazakhstan. TA Ventures, as a rule, does not lead the rounds, but co-invests in startups with other funds and angels. We are planning to hold several individual meetings with startups and participate in other similar events in Kazakhstan,” shared Tamara Lobzina, CEO of the iCLUB Global Private Investors Club from Ukraine.

Recall that all participants of the international technopark of IT start-ups Astana Hub receive tax preferences. Preferences exempt participants from paying taxes such as CIT, VAT, VAT on imports of goods, royalty tax, PIT and social tax for non-residents. Such a measure of state support allows IT companies to reinvest the saved funds in the development of their projects.
