This was stated by Yoram Wijngaarde, Founder and CEO of Dealroom.co, a leading global platform for startup and venture capital analytics.
Speaking at the international forum Digital Almaty 2025, Yoram Wijngaarde emphasized the importance of emerging ecosystems and the opportunities they create for the global market. According to him, while the United States and Europe remain leaders in terms of the total number of startups, Asian countries are demonstrating particularly strong growth dynamics. Kazakhstan already accounts for 15–20% of all global venture capital invested in Central Asia.
“Kazakhstan has become a significant player on the global startup ecosystem map. Today, a large number of high-tech startups are developing here, and venture capital investment in the region has increased substantially. Kazakhstan is not only catching up with, but in terms of the pace of decacorn creation—startups valued at over USD 10 billion—even surpassing the United States. In a very short period of time, this still-young IT ecosystem has already produced companies such as Kaspi.kz, with valuations exceeding USD 10 billion. This underscores the strong potential of Kazakhstan’s ecosystem to attract international venture capital and to build companies of global scale,” Wijngaarde noted.
As part of Dealroom.co’s work, 101 startups in Kazakhstan have already been analyzed, which represents only the beginning of research into the region. Wijngaarde expressed confidence that over the next year, thanks to closer cooperation with the international technology park Astana Hub, the database will expand significantly, enabling a more accurate assessment of the opportunities and trends within Kazakhstan’s startup ecosystem.
The integration of Kazakhstan’s ecosystem into the Dealroom.co platform is of strategic importance, as it opens access to international investments and partnerships. This will help Kazakhstani startups attract capital, accelerate their entry into global markets, and strengthen the country’s position on the world innovation map.
It should be recalled that the international forum Digital Almaty 2025 is taking place on January 31 – February 1 in Almaty, at the Atakent Exhibition Center.
