Astana Hub and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed the Memorandum of Understanding at Digital Almaty 2023
On February 2 at the Digital Almaty 2023 Forum, Astana Hub - an International Technopark for IT startups signed a number of memorandums on the development of human capital and the IT startups ecosystem.
A memorandum signed by the Head for Kazakhstan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Hussain Ozkhan and CEO of Astana Hub Magzhan Madiev creates a basis for cooperation between the EBRD and Astana Hub in implementing the Star Venture Program, which aims to support an acceleration and venture financing processes at the early stages of development in Kazakhstan.
"The Memorandum of Understanding with Astana Hub will allow us to provide more targeted support to promising startups. Thus, we are joining forces with Astana Hub as part of our Star Venture program to better target promising startups," said Husein Ozkhan, EBRD Country Head for Kazakhstan.
The implementation of Star Venture is expected to contribute to the development of Astana Hub programs by providing a wide range of consulting services by engaging international experts and mentors.
Established in 1991, the EBRD invests in projects that foster the transition to open market economies as well as private and entrepreneurial development. It is the largest investor that operates in more than 30 countries, from Central and Eastern Europe to Central Asia and the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region.
Also at the forum was signed: the Memorandum of Education in the field of cybersecurity for law enforcement officers - a quadripartite agreement between the Center for the Development of Payment and Financial Technologies of the National Bank of Kazakhstan", Binance Kazakhstan, Astana Hub, and the Academy of law enforcement under the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan; Memorandum of Understanding between Astana Hub and the Private Association for the Development of IT-industry of the Sakha (Yakutia).
Digital Almaty is a traditional dialogue platform for discussing the digital agenda, new strategies for digital transformation, and trends in digital technology. The Forum has been held for the fifth time since 2018.
It is worth noting that the international forum Digital Almaty is taking place on February 2-3 in Almaty. The organizers are the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the Almaty City Administration, Tech Garden, and Astana Hub.
