— What did you do before joining Tech Orda, and where do you work now?
— Before joining Tech Orda, I worked—and continue to work—as a psychologist within the internal affairs system. My work involves conducting psychodiagnostic assessments of employees, analyzing test results, and preparing reports and professional conclusions.
Over time, I noticed that my work involved an increasing amount of data: psychological assessment results, indicators across different scales, psychological monitoring groups, changes over time, and various types of reports. I became interested in going beyond analyzing this information manually and learning how to work with it using full-fledged data analytics tools.
Today, I continue to develop professionally as a psychologist while also building my expertise in Data Analytics and applying the knowledge I have gained in my work.
— Why did you decide to pursue IT and apply for the Tech Orda program?
— I would not say that I wanted to leave psychology entirely and move into IT. Rather, I wanted to combine the two fields.
I have always been interested in identifying patterns in psychological research results. However, Excel and conventional spreadsheets have their limitations. As the volume of information grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to see the bigger picture, compare indicators, and track changes over time.
That is how I became interested in data analytics and Qlik Sense. I wanted to learn how to transform large amounts of fragmented information into a clear system that makes it possible to identify trends, compare results, and quickly access the necessary data.
For me, IT has become a tool that can make my core professional work more modern, systematic, and efficient.
— What was the learning process like, and what did you find most valuable?
— The program was quite intensive. I studied the fundamentals of working with data, including data loading and transformation, building visualizations, creating metrics, using Set Analysis and variables, writing scripts, and understanding the structure of analytical applications in Qlik Sense.
One of the most important lessons for me was realizing that analytics does not begin with an attractive chart—it begins with properly organized data. If information is structured incorrectly from the outset, even the most impressive visualization will not provide an objective picture.
I gradually progressed from simple tables to more complex tasks, such as building data models, working with metrics, and automating analysis.
The most valuable aspect was the opportunity to apply my new knowledge immediately in my professional work. I began to see psychodiagnostic results not as separate figures, but as a dataset that could be structured, analyzed, and presented visually.
— What was the greatest challenge you faced during the program?
— The main challenge was that I entered IT without a technical background. When you encounter scripts, data models, relationships between tables, and formulas for the first time, it feels as though you are learning an entirely new language.
Sometimes, one small error in a script could prevent the entire model from loading. I had to identify the cause, check each stage, and work through the logic of the process again. However, these situations taught me not to fear mistakes, but to see them as part of the learning process.
Above all, I wanted to prove to myself that being a psychologist without a technical degree does not mean that a career in analytics and IT is out of reach.
— How has Tech Orda influenced your professional work?
— Tech Orda gave me the opportunity to enter a completely new field in a structured way. The biggest change was not necessarily in my job title, but in my mindset and approach to work.
Previously, I would simply see psychological testing results. Now, I see a data structure: indicators, relationships, trends, distinct groups, and potential patterns.
What I value most is that the program enabled me to combine psychology and IT. This proved far more interesting than simply learning how to use a new software tool. I realized that analytical tools could be adapted to the needs of my profession and used to improve familiar working processes.

— I currently continue to work as a psychologist while developing my data analytics skills.
I work with large datasets containing psychodiagnostic results and reporting information. My goal is to ensure that data does not merely remain stored in spreadsheets, but helps accelerate analysis and support decision-making.
Analytical tools make it possible to visualize the distribution of indicators, identify trends, form distinct groups, track changes over time, and prepare visual reports.
I am interested in continuing to explore the opportunities emerging at the intersection of psychology and data analytics. I see significant potential in this field for my professional development.
— What advice would you give to those who are only beginning their journey into IT?
— I would advise them not to wait until they feel completely ready. I entered IT from a profession that, at first glance, has very little to do with programming, and I was nervous in the beginning as well.
You can start with small steps: choose a field that interests you, study consistently, and make sure to apply your knowledge in practice. Practical tasks are what help you understand the material more deeply and see the results of your efforts.
At the same time, you do not necessarily have to leave your previous profession behind. Sometimes, your existing experience can become your greatest advantage.
In my case, psychology and data analytics are not two separate paths, but two complementary areas of expertise. My story shows that a journey into IT does not have to begin with the desire to become a programmer—it can begin with the desire to approach familiar professional challenges in a new way.
