Astana Hub Resident CodiPlay Secures $9M to Expand in the MENA Region
Kazakhstani edtech startup CodiPlay has successfully raised $9 million in a Series A funding round at a $100 million valuation. The round attracted a group of investors from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, including the Senior Executive Vice President for Strategy at Qatar National Bank, renowned business angel Christian Eichner, and the private equity fund Global Capital. This investment will enable CodiPlay to strengthen its presence in the MENA region, specifically in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar—countries with strong economies and low inflation rates.

CodiPlay offers cutting-edge digital education solutions for K-12 schools. Over the next two years, the company plans to integrate its platform into 3,000 schools across the MENA region, making it the first Kazakhstani education project to set such an ambitious goal.
“We are grateful for the support from our investors, which will accelerate the development and adoption of our solutions in the region. Modern school education can be both accessible and effective. In IT education, we see how young children become engaged in learning: they can design a traffic light system, understand how a barrier system operates, and grasp the fundamentals of smart home technology. Their motivation and academic performance grow alongside their digital skills,” said CodiPlay CEO and founder Zhanadil Taldybaev.
The successful funding round and expansion plans underscore the growing international interest in Kazakhstani tech projects and further establish CodiPlay as a key player in the edtech sector.
Through its platform, schools teach students digital literacy by allowing them to independently create IoT-based devices—from smart home systems to drones that respond to real-time commands. This hands-on approach fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Since its founding in 2021, CodiPlay has reached nearly one million children in over 600 schools worldwide, including in South Korea and the UK. The company has been recognized by the United Nations as a Digital Public Good and certified by the Finnish Education Alliance, reinforcing the global demand for high-quality digital learning programs.
