The largest multi-location Web3 hackathon, Decentrathon, has kicked off in Kazakhstan.

For the first time in Central Asia, one of the largest hackathons in the global blockchain industry, Decentrathon, is taking place. This extensive technological event involves over 1,200 participants from nine regions of Kazakhstan: Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Semey, Aktobe, Atyrau, Aktau, Shymkent, aiming to break the world record.

Over the course of three days, more than 250 teams of talented Web3 enthusiasts from across the country will showcase their potential to a wide audience at 13 locations throughout Kazakhstan. Decentrathon represents a significant step towards creating a more advanced technological landscape and a sustainable blockchain ecosystem in Kazakhstan. It also offers an excellent opportunity for universities to contribute to the development of the blockchain industry.

The event is organized by the international technopark for IT startups, Astana Hub, Blockchain Center, Binance Kazakhstan, and BNB Chain.

Bagdat Musin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, officially opened the event from Semey. The opening ceremony, held at Maqsut Narikbayev University, was also attended by Renat Bekturov, the head of the Astana International Financial Center, Zhaslan Madiyev, the General Manager of Binance Kazakhstan, Rumeel Hussain, Blockchain Solution Architect in BNB Chain, and Aydana Kaskyrbek, the Director of Blockchain Center in Kazakhstan.

"The hackathon is organized with the assistance and participation of the Binance ecosystem. It provides an opportunity to dive deeper into the blockchain industry and showcase your skills in practice. I wish everyone success!" - addressed the participants, Bagdat Musin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, joining the opening via videoconference from Semey.

"Human capital is an essential part of the development of any industry. The hackathon participants are the future blockchain engineers who will fuel the industry with new projects. The Binance ecosystem fully supports the development of the blockchain industry in the region. Kazakhstan has every chance of becoming the crypto hub of the entire region. That is why Binance actively engages in the development of the blockchain community in Kazakhstan and fosters local infrastructure," noted Zhaslan Madiyev, the General Manager of Binance Kazakhstan.

"In a few years, blockchain technology will irrevocably integrate into our lives. Kazakhstan will not only be a competitive country in this industry but also has the potential to become a leading country. Decentrathon is a new brand in the blockchain world, from which the coolest blockchain community will emerge," shared Aydana Kaskyrbek, the Director of Blockchain Center in Kazakhstan.

The hackathon will last for three days, and the competition results and winners will be announced at the Decentral Asia Blockchain Forum, scheduled for June 16, 2023, in Astana. It's worth noting that the hackathon's prize fund amounts to $10,000, and the winners will be selected based on their innovative solutions and ideas. The first-place winner will receive $5,000, the second-place winner $3,500, and the third-place winner $1,500, respectively.

A hackathon is a competition in which teams of developers are required to create a prototype of a product (such as a web service or mobile application) to solve a specific problem within a defined timeframe.
