BNB Chain To Host First Hackathon in Kazakhstan with Astana IT University

BNB Chain, the world’s largest smart contract blockchain in terms of daily active users, in collaboration with Astana IT University, is hosting the first Web3 Hackathon in Kazakhstan. The event aims to attract 200 student developers, providing them with an opportunity to engage with the BNB Chain developer community, and test their Web3 skills in a practical setting.

Registration is over!

The hackathon will also feature a signing ceremony for a memorandum of partnership between BNB Chain and AITU, which marks the start of the two parties' long term collaboration. The event will take place on December 24 and 25 at Astana IT University and is expected to attract over 200 participants.

At the closing ceremony on December 25th, three winners will be announced, and the winners will present their final solution to a panel of judges. Winners will receive a prize of $2112 for first place, $1584 for second place, and $1056 for third place, as well as BNB Chain swag and continued access to the BNB Chain developer programs.

Alvin Kan, Director of Growth & Ops at BNB Chain said: “BNB Chain Innovation Hackathon with Astana is the perfect platform for students to not only learn from industry experts, but also to showcase their talents and eventually build on the BNB Chain. We are committed to fostering a strong and engaged developer community in Kazakhstan by partnering with Astana IT University and signing a memorandum for collaborative web3 development.”

The lead developers will hold workshops and seminars during the hackathon to explain the fundamentals of building in web3 and on BNB Chain, as well as the hackathon tracks, challenges, and winning criteria. Teams of students will then compete for prizes, with the winners being announced at the closing ceremony.

The hackathon has eight exciting tracks - Decentralized Storage, Web3 Reputation, The Road to a Decentralized Society, Real-time data indexing, Secure Wallets, Streaming in Web3, Soulbound tokens, and Zero-Knowledge proofs.

The participants will get a chance to solve a variety of challenges via these tracks. Some of the problems will be around building a decentralized storage solution using IPFS and BNB tokens, creating a reputation framework for ranking users on web3 protocols, designing privacy-first soulbound tokens using zero-knowledge proofs, building a solution for real-time data indexing using deep learning, creating a safe wallet with a vanity address manager, and developing a decentralized livestream platform. More information on the tracks can be found on the official event website.

In 2022, BNB Chain dApps have attracted over a million daily unique web3 wallets despite a market downturn. The network also  surpassed Ethereum with over 230 million in number of unique addresses, becoming more decentralized and open source than ever while improving scalability and lowering costs for web3 projects.
