Purpose of the laboratory
The scientific and technical program BR21882292 – "Integrated development of sustainable construction industries: innovative technologies, optimization of production, effective use of resources and creation of a technology park" – is being implemented at Satbayev University for 2023-2025 under a state-funded targeted program agreement with the Committee of Science, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (No. 447-PCF-23-25 dated 15.11.2023). Program objective: to research and develop new technologies for producing advanced construction materials; to foster technological enterprises through an innovation-friendly environment via the creation of a construction technology park; and to establish a joint venture for manufacturing new and promising building materials. Project novelty: the development of innovative technologies that enhance the integrated and environmentally safe utilization of mining and metallurgical waste and mineral resources in the construction sector. In accordance with the decision of the Board of directors of Satbayev University dated February 19, 2025 (Minutes No. 01) and the University order dated February 20, 2025 (Order No. 80-P/Ө), the Research laboratory of construction and building materials was established within the structural unit of the Board member - Vice-Rector “TECHNOPARK STROYTECH.”

Types of tests carried out by the laboratory
Mission of the laboratory: To conduct comprehensive research on building materials and structures to ensure their compliance with regulatory standards, enhance quality and durability, and develop new technical regulations for the construction industry in Kazakhstan. Main tasks: 1. Testing construction materials and products to evaluate compliance with national standards; 2. Studying physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of concrete, cement, aggregates, and other components; 3. Developing and optimizing mix designs in accordance with modern requirements for strength, durability, and sustainability; 4. Conducting geotechnical investigations to assess bearing capacity and soil stability; 5. Evaluating the effects of additives and modifiers on material performance; 6. Testing and introducing new technologies and materials into construction; 7. Providing expert evaluations and technical conclusions; 8. Quality assessment at all stages – from development to real-world application; 9. Developing and implementing technical regulations and industry standards; 10. Issuing recommendations to improve the quality and longevity of materials; 11. Ensuring compliance with environmental and international standards. Laboratory equipment: Anton Paar MCR 302e Rheometer – for rheological analysis of concrete mixtures; I-Cal 4000 HPC Isothermal Calorimeter – for hydration heat studies of cement-based materials; JEOL JSM-7000 Scanning Electron Microscope – for high-resolution microstructural analysis.
