City of Skilled Trades: Astana Hub Showcases Unique Educational Programs

At the Republican Festival “City of Skilled Trades”, Astana Hub presented its flagship educational programs—Tomorrow School, the first artificial intelligence school in Kazakhstan, and Tech Orda, a national IT training initiative.

The festival recreates a miniature city where streets and buildings symbolize key economic sectors. Participants can explore dedicated areas for mining and metallurgy, engineering and transport, agriculture and water management, construction, emergency response, and fire safety. Astana Hub is featured on the "Professions of the Future" street, within the "Educational Programs and Initiatives" house, where visitors can learn about modern IT education approaches.

"Digital skills are the key to the future. We aim to provide young people with the best opportunities to acquire high-demand professions. Programs like Tomorrow School and Tech Orda help students gain cutting-edge knowledge and competitive skills aligned with the needs of today’s market. We believe that a combination of innovative learning methods and government support will help shape a new generation of highly qualified IT specialists. This festival is a great platform to showcase Astana Hub’s initiatives and inspire young people to pursue promising careers in digital technology," said Daniya Akhmetova, Managing Director of Astana Hub.

One of the most highly anticipated programs at the festival is Tomorrow School, Kazakhstan’s first AI-focused school, which introduces a peer-to-peer learning format with no traditional teachers or lectures. Developed by French educator Nicolas Sadirac, this methodology enables students to collaboratively solve challenges and develop logical thinking. The program's success rate speaks for itself—over 90% of graduates from similar schools secure employment upon completion. Applications are currently open for Tomorrow School’s fourth cohort.

Astana Hub also introduced Tech Orda, an initiative aimed at training IT professionals in Kazakhstan. Through this program, the government provides grants of up to KZT 600,000 per student, allowing them to enroll in leading private IT schools. The curriculum covers web development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, Big Data, AR/VR, and GameDev, helping to build a new generation of skilled professionals in Kazakhstan’s tech industry.

At the Astana Hub booth, visitors can learn more about Tomorrow School and Tech Orda, as well as test their cognitive skills through interactive activities—including chess games, Rubik’s Cube challenges, and a QR code scavenger hunt. Those who complete the quest game have a chance to win 20 scholarships for IT and tech entrepreneurship courses, as well as 20 smartwatches. Additionally, attendees receive branded souvenirs from Astana Hub.

The festival runs until February 15, offering students, schoolchildren, and professionals an opportunity to explore both modern and traditional professions. This unique format helps guide career choices, spark interest in high-demand fields, and connect participants with potential employers.

It is important to note that 2025 has been declared the "Year of Skilled Trades" by the President of Kazakhstan. This initiative aims to elevate the status of technical professions and strengthen vocational education. Astana Hub actively supports this mission by helping to train highly qualified IT specialists, fostering digital transformation and workforce development in Kazakhstan.
