Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Astana Hub and Alem.AI Should Become a Real Innovation Factory

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited the innovative ecosystem Astana Hub and was introduced to the concept of the Alem.AI Artificial Intelligence Center, which will be located in the Nur Alem area.

The head of state reminded that in his earlier Address, he proposed the initiative to create a National AI Center. He suggested enhancing this idea by making the center international, turning it into a key institution for AI development in the region.

"The international Alem.AI center should become the epicenter of the AI movement and a symbol of Kazakhstan's digital transformation. This platform will bring together the best minds from our country and attract talent from all over the world. It will house research and design laboratories, a programming school, and offices of international tech companies. Astana Hub and Alem.AI should become a true innovation factory, attracting international partners, stimulating scientific research, and creating solutions for all key sectors of the economy, education, and social sphere," said the President.

According to the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, schools such as Tomorrow School and Tumo Education will be opened at the center. The goal is to teach over 1,000 schoolchildren programming, robotics, and other creative technologies, and to prepare 1,000 high-class specialists annually. The Alem.AI International Center will also serve as a campus for startup acceleration and support research projects in this field.

The President was presented with information about promising domestic startup projects and companies involved in incubation and acceleration programs. Among them were companies such as Cybernet.ai, which specializes in the development and implementation of voice robots for customer interaction, and ArlanBiotech, which aims to contribute to solving complex problems in immunotherapy and diagnostics. Another promising startup, Higgsfield AI, has developed an advanced system to help scientists and engineers train complex computer models.

The President was also briefed on the activities of companies like TikTok and Netracker in Kazakhstan. Thanks to tax preferences, visa support, and other favorable conditions, foreign companies and IT specialists are becoming part of the Astana Hub ecosystem. Talks are currently underway to host offices for Telegram, TON, Tether, Google, EPAM, and other representatives of the global IT industry to implement research projects and develop new products.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also presented with domestic developments in artificial intelligence, including industrial solutions like digital twins of deposits, drone management, and a robot-dog for manufacturing.

The President shared his vision for the development of AI in Kazakhstan, noting the country's enormous potential in the IT sector. He announced that, following his instructions, the Government has adopted the Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence for the years 2024-2029.
