Vice Prime Minister Nurlan Baybazarov Discusses Measures to Support Startups with Domestic Tech Companies

Vice Prime Minister and National Economy Minister Nurlan Baibazarov, along with Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev, visited Astana Hub to explore innovative projects developed by local specialists.


Astana Hub is actively building and nurturing an ecosystem for tech businesses, providing training for tech specialists, and supporting startup projects. Currently, nearly 1,500 IT companies are registered in the technology park, with over 400 involving foreign participation.

During a recent presentation, tech developers showcased several notable projects. One of them is Alaqan, a startup featuring a contactless payment system utilizing palm vein recognition. Launched in 2020, Alaqan offers three products: Alaqan Pay, Alaqan Mektep, and Alaqan HR. The system boasts 100,000 users, conducts 1.2 million identifications monthly, and has attracted $300,000 in investments.

Another innovation highlighted was NeuronOil, a web-based oilfield development simulator employing cross-well numerical simulation enhanced by machine learning. This technology enables increased daily oil production without escalating costs or compromising planned production volumes.

Additionally, CodiPlay, a promising Kazakh EdTech startup focused on global expansion, was featured. Utilizing AI and virtual reality, CodiPlay connects schools across Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, South Korea, the United Kingdom (UK), and Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, discussions focused on measures to support startups, commercialize specific innovative projects, and provide venture financing for startups in line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive to boost tech services exports to $1 billion.
