12 oncologists from Kazakhstan have been trained at the IPSM International School for the first time.

Kazakhstani oncologists have completed a two-year training program at the IPSM International School. They became the first specialists to graduate from the program in Kazakhstan. The official release will take place in August 2025.

IPSM (International Postgraduate School of Medicine) has completed a two-year training program for Kazakhstani specialists in the field of oncology, oncohematology and pathomorphology. The first stream consisted of 12 oncologists. They have received theoretical and practical training from the world's leading experts.

The IPSM project is implemented by the IHEA International Foundation, the first issue was supported by the EA Charity Fund (corporate fund of the EA Group holding). The program has established itself as a successful model of postgraduate education for oncologists. Kazakhstan is the first country to launch an international project school.

The IPSM course lasts for two years, is free of charge and is an addition to the residency program. As part of the program, students take intensive classes in medical disciplines, as well as courses in medical English, effective communication with patients, and critical reading of medical literature. Among the teachers are practitioners with extensive experience in clinical and research work in the field of oncology, oncohematology, pathomorphology and other fields from the USA, Israel, Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc. The program includes practice-oriented modules (magazine clubs, clinical case studies) and simulation classes. Students completed full-time study in groups with homework and mandatory certification upon completion of medical units.

“For two years now, IPSM has been supporting the development of cancer education in Kazakhstan by offering a new, practice-oriented approach. Working in addition to the existing system, we help students develop practical skills and gain a deeper understanding of their patients' needs,” Vadim Guschin, IPSM Academic Director, Surgical Oncologist at Mercy Clinic in Baltimore (USA).
“IPSM not only trains doctors according to international standards, but also makes a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh medicine. Residents will be able to apply modern methods of working with cancer patients, which will improve the quality of medical services in the country. We are pleased to be a part of this project and support the development of medicine in Kazakhstan,” says Aidar Buribayev, Director of the EA Charity Fund.

In addition, 8 students have completed international internships at leading clinics and research centers in the USA, Switzerland, Israel and Russia. One of the students presented the results of the internship at a professional conference in Kazakhstan. Several graduates also made presentations at conferences in Switzerland and other countries.

As part of the training, students also developed projects aimed at implementing changes in clinics in Kazakhstan, which will improve the quality of medical care in the country.

The IPSM program makes it possible to significantly improve the qualifications of specialists in the field of oncology in Kazakhstan, improve the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases, as well as strengthen international cooperation in the medical field. Graduates of the program will be able to implement new approaches and methods in their clinics, which will have a positive impact on the healthcare system in Kazakhstan. At the moment, IPSM is in search of additional donors.
