Intern's Diary #1 - Astana Hub Bootcamp 2.0

Introduction

The story of my first month of internship at Astana Hub. In this article, I will talk about the program itself, its features, emotions and impressions.

Astana Hub Bootcamp 2.0 is a two-month internship. You will spend the first month directly at Astana Hub, and the second month at one of its residents.

Acquaintance

My studies at the university were coming to an end, there was only the solemn presentation of the diploma. An important stage in my life has been completed, and now I have to find a place for an internship and a job where I can get practical skills.

For almost a year now, I have been studying at the programming school in parallel. I know firsthand about the work of Astana Hub. It was in the school's community chat that I found information about the internship. Having a non-core education in IT, but having a strong desire to become part of the IT sphere, I sent an application.

For whom?

When I was looking for information about this program, there was nothing but information about the requirements for candidates and that you will study and work at the hub and its partners.

Who is this internship for? You may be thinking about developers, managers, data analysts, and designers. Yes, but in general it depends on what applications are received for interns.  During the interview, you will be discussed about possible internship locations and available options. In the motivation letter, I indicated that I was interested in project management, and I was offered to spend the first month as a manager in one of the hub's offices.

Qualifying stage

To apply, you need to attach a resume and a motivation letter. After that, we take a Prof. aptitude test and an interview. Candidate Requirement: Recent Bachelor's or Master's degree graduate.

Internship

In the first month of work, I was appointed an intern at the Astana Hub Office of Educational programs. I was onboarded and introduced to the team. I felt a little lost because for the first week and a half I didn't have any real tasks. I literally had to beg for a job.  It was only after filling out the diary with the mentor that it became clear which part of the work I would do.

*Intern's diary is a form of reporting with the objectives of the internship and an assessment of the intern's performance.

I was lucky with the team, I was warmly welcomed and integrated into the work of the office pretty quickly. As a manager, I had to interact with different offices and people. The work was versatile, many tasks were accompanied. I learned how planning and management work in large companies. Upgrade of soft skills and networking.  This is probably the best place where I could spend the first month.

Conclusion

Although, for natural reasons, I cannot describe in detail all aspects of the work I did, I can say with confidence that this experience turned out to be invaluable.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to talk about the second month of the internship and share new impressions
