How technologies enter into education in Kazakhstan

In our country, technology has firmly entered our world, but now we are introducing it into school education, showing that we care about the future of children in an innovative digital world.

Initially, computer science was taught at the middle and senior levels, but recently the government indicated that now children are starting to study this subject from the first grade. This shows that the authorities are aware of how firmly the digital world is embedded in our society, and how important it is to teach children not only how to use technology, but also how to protect themselves in the digital environment. In addition, in the middle, and especially in the senior level, students study programming languages in detail.

One of the most significant innovations, in my opinion, was the introduction of robotics in many schools, including rural ones. They began to supply LEGO Mindstorms and Arduino, as well as open robotics classrooms where children work with robots from an early age, studying their design and purpose. Thanks to this, competitions began to be regularly held not only in robotics (Robolend, InfoMatrix Asia, Kazakhstan Robotics Challenge), but also in programming (QazCode, ROI, ICPC).

The changes also affected teachers: training lectures and courses are organized for them, as well as additional grants for professional development. Moreover, separate universities specializing in IT are being created, such as Astana IT University.

At the moment, many schools are using the Internet, which facilitates the learning process for both students and teachers. In addition, schools are actively equipped not only with high-quality computers and furniture, but also with modern interactive whiteboards and separate computers for students. The electronic journal system is also actively developing, which makes the documentation process more convenient and transparent.

In more developed schools (NIS, RFMSH, IT lyceums), almost all classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and modern computers. Computer science classrooms have 3D printers (some secondary schools also have them, but of lower quality) and specialized laboratories. These schools are also much better equipped with AR and VR technologies than ordinary urban and rural educational institutions.

Such technical equipment of schools shows that Kazakhstan not only supports the development of the IT industry among adults in the format of startups and IT companies, but also actively implements digital technologies in the school system, preparing children for the future digital world.

It's no secret that students have been actively using AI for several years now, both to check their mistakes and, unfortunately, to violate academic integrity. However, at the moment, the state has begun the official introduction of AI into the educational process.

For example, Almaty schools are already using AI platforms to create interactive lessons with three-dimensional modeling. This makes studying subjects such as biology and history more fun and effective. In addition, AI is now integrated into school subjects: students can work with it in the classroom and receive feedback on their work.

As noted by the Vice-president of the National Academy of Education named after I. Altynsarin:

"For example, a student learns the Kazakh language. They will be able to upload their essay, and artificial intelligence will give feedback on how well they wrote it, what mistakes they made, and how they can fix it. In addition, it will help to develop critical thinking. Because artificial intelligence tends to make mistakes. Therefore, any information should always be rechecked and analyzed." - Ruslan Karatabanov, Vice-President of the I. Altynsarin National Academy of Education.

Based on my personal experience and observations, I realize that the world of technology, a world in which it is impossible to do without AI, the Internet and modern technical solutions, has already arrived. Kazakhstan has not only accepted this challenge, but is also actively implementing advanced technologies, preparing a new generation for life in the IT era. We are developing startups that can compete in the global market, and we are educating children who, when they grow up, will surely bring something new and meaningful to the digital world for all mankind.
