Smart City Kyzylorda Hackathon 2025: technologies, talents and a step into the region's future

On May 15, 2025, the regional hackathon Smart City Kyzylorda Hackathon 2025 was held in the city of Kyzylorda, organized by the Kyzylorda Hub with the support of the Akimat of the Kyzylorda region. This is the sixth large-scale IT event aimed at developing digital solutions for a smart city, supporting young professionals and shaping the region's technological ecosystem.

This year's hackathon brought together 317 participants and 93 projects from the cities of Kyzylorda, Taraz and Turkestan. The participants presented projects in three key areas: web development and creation of digital products (websites, applications, games, bots), modeling and engineering solutions (3D, robotics, IoT, BIM, artificial intelligence-based systems), as well as AI products applicable in the field of public services, medicine and public safety.

Based on the results of intensive work, the jury determined the strongest. In the field of artificial intelligence, the winners were: the Health-X project (Alisher Romankul, Kyzylorda National Research University), TirekAI (Aydin Orynbek, school No. 144), TraffIQ (Sulugul Dauletbekova, University named after Yassawi). The rector's grant was awarded to the AI Bullying Detector project (Nadira Atymtai).

In the field of modeling, the projects AI Oasis (Nurai Mukhtarbek, NM Kyzylorda), Syr Safari, H2ZeroParklet, as well as the project "Charging station with a solar tracker" (Inkar Bakytkyzy), awarded a special grant, were noted.

The winners in the development category were Trustviser (Aizere Bekzhan, Abai School), Bala Talk (Mahabbat Baimenov, University named after Korkyt Ata), AITutor (Janelle Ibadulla, IT School No. 3), as well as Tegin Map (Aigerim Fazylkarim), who received a grant for a socially significant initiative.

The winners were awarded certificates in the amounts of 300,000₸, 200,000₸ and 100,000₸, and also received educational grants from Korkyt Ata University. The hackathon has become not only a contest of ideas, but also a platform for communication, exchange of experience and inspiration.

The Kyzylorda Smart City hackathons, initiated by the Kyzylorda Hub, have become a key driver for the development of the regional IT ecosystem in recent years. They not only bring together talented young people — programmers, engineers, analysts — but also become a launching pad for technological solutions with high potential. Thanks to the hackathons, dozens of projects have received the support of experienced mentors, attracted funding and reached the stage of practical implementation in various areas of urban life.

The Kyzylorda Hub will continue to develop such initiatives, providing young people with opportunities to grow and implement technological ideas that shape the digital future of the region.
