Yandex Qazaqstan has introduced updates to the SourceCraft Developer platform

Almaty, August 14, 2025 — New opportunities for open‑source developers have appeared on the SourceCraft platform: an expanded rating system and awards for users, as well as a grant support program for open-source projects. 

The new integrated rating system allows users to rate repositories on a three-point scale. The rating algorithm takes into account not only the number of votes for the project, but also the varying degrees of approval of the repository. 

There is also a system of individual awards for developers. It automatically tracks user activity, from posting code changes and releases to code reviews and participating in discussions, and awards awards for achievements. Achievements are divided into categories: “Working with code”, “Contribution to the community”, “Mastering tools”, “Proven experience". All awards are visible in the developer's profile, which allows you to get an idea of his individual contribution to open source. Visualizations of awards are created using YandexART diffusion models. 

The SourceCraft team systematically examines the needs of the open source community: collects feedback through a public reception, conducts research and analyzes usage scenarios in order to develop the platform in accordance with the tasks and expectations of developers. SourceCraft now also supports the Yandex Cloud grant program for interesting and important open-source projects. Among the key criteria are the activity of the repository, the relevance and practical benefits of the project, as well as a clear development vector.
