Astana Smart City Accelerator: 10 Startups Selected to Launch Pilots in the Capital

The Astana City Digitalization and Public Services Department, in collaboration with Astana Hub and Astana Innovations, has completed the first phase of the Astana Smart City acceleration program. Following pitching sessions on October 2, ten startups were selected to pilot their projects at the city level. Each will receive up to 5 million tenge in seed funding from Astana Hub’s Seed Money program to support their development.

The interim “pre-demo” event marked the program’s midpoint, where 20 participants presented innovative solutions focused on enhancing the urban environment and quality of life for city residents. From an initial 128 applications, 107 passed the initial screening to participate in the program.

During this first stage, participants gained access to industry experts, attended workshops, and received one-on-one consultations to tailor their solutions to specific urban challenges and refine their projects.

"Seed Money funding will give startups a unique opportunity to test their solutions in real conditions, providing an incentive for further development and the potential to scale to external markets. Additionally, Astana Hub offers infrastructure access for startups from other regions, expert consultations, feedback from industry leaders, and assistance in B2G (business-to-government) connections,” said Tanat Uskembayev, Managing Director of Astana Hub.

The following 10 startups were chosen based on their potential, each receiving up to 5 million tenge in funding:

  1. Protector AI: An AI-driven system for video analysis, capable of detecting violent incidents such as impacts, falls, and jolts.
  2. AdsIQ: An AI-powered content and ad management system for monitors in public transport.
  3. SPLESH: An eco-friendly mobile car wash that enables car cleaning anywhere in the city with minimal environmental impact.
  4. HOOOD: A digital out-of-home (DOOH) management platform that provides small and medium-sized businesses with a flexible, real-time tool for launching and adjusting advertising campaigns.
  5. Autism Spectrum: An app tailored for Kazakhstan, designed to support children with autism and their parents.
  6. Rationeel: A hybrid solution combining a cloud platform and mobile app for business process digitalization and data collection optimization.
  7. i-ConS: A mobile app with a web interface that simplifies construction and repair project management, budget control, and material tracking.
  8. Green Cars: A company developing EV infrastructure in Kazakhstan, offering an IT platform and network of charging stations.
  9. Hi Doctor: A clinical decision support system that acts as a virtual assistant for doctors.

The program’s final stage will be Demo Day, where participants will showcase the results of their pilots to city officials and industry experts. The most effective IT solutions will be considered for full-scale integration into city infrastructure, advancing the use of innovative technology to improve the lives of residents.
