How Kazakhstani residents can contribute to the development of the capital

Astana Innovations with the support of the akimats of Esil, Almaty and Saryarka districts is launching a large-scale project called "Smart District" in the city of Nur-Sultan. The Smart District is a "living laboratory" that will concentrate currently known smart technologies and solutions.

The Smart District project defines the following areas:

"Smart Governance" (Smart Governance);
"Smart Economy;
"Smart Transport;
"Smart Environment" (Smart Environment);
"Smart People;
"Smart Living".

Everyone is welcome to take part in the project: you need to present a creative technological solution, a product or a service that can be used in the urban environment to the benefit of the environment, residents, and visitors to the capital.

The participants who have passed the selection will get an opportunity to implement their solution on the territory of one of the Smart Districts, mentor support and tracking from Astana Innovations, to present the solutions to the city authorities, and the best will have an opportunity to speak at the IT-council with the participation of the mayor of the city.

Background Information: 

The "Smart District" project was first launched in 2018 and is implemented at the expense of private investment. All solutions tested here can be scaled to the entire city, if they prove their effectiveness. 

In total, since 2018, more than 180 million tenge of private investment has been invested in the project, without using the local budget. The Zhastar (Youth) neighborhood, within the boundaries of A. Barayev, A. Kravtsov, J. Tashenov and T. Husein streets, was chosen as the territory for the project implementation. About 20 companies are working on becoming a "Smart" neighborhood Zhastar.

In addition, to calculate the key performance indicators for smart sustainable cities, and to develop the program "Development of Astana until 2050," international organizations also take part: UN, UNECE, UNDP, UN-Habitat, etc.
