Kazakhstan to Host Largest Multi-Location Hackathon with $50,000 Prize Fund and Virtual Tech Job Fair

On October 18-19, 2024, Kazakhstan will host Decentrathon 2.0, the largest multi-location hackathon with a prize fund of $50,000 and a virtual job fair. The event will cover 17 regions of the country and bring together over 2,500 developers tasked with solving challenges in areas such as AI, Blockchain, GameDev, and Telegram mini apps.

Decentrathon 2.0 promises to be a significant milestone in the technology sector, expanding on the success of the first hackathon. Last year, more than 1,500 participants from 9 regions took part, and this year, the hackathon will reach new heights by including leading universities and technology parks across 17 regions.

Participants will have the chance to compete for substantial cash prizes, present their projects to industry leaders, and acquire knowledge and practical skills under the guidance of tech experts. The virtual job fair will offer developers a unique opportunity to find employment with top companies both in Kazakhstan and internationally. The hackathon is open to developers and technology enthusiasts eager to challenge themselves and create solutions that can change the future. The event will take place in major cities, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Karaganda, and other regional centers.

"Decentrathon is the first large-scale tech event that covers all regions of Kazakhstan and is one of the key initiatives of the Generative Nation movement this year. Our goal is to achieve AI transformation in the country, and such initiatives must have a national scale. It is crucial that they encompass all regions, providing young talents with the opportunity to contribute to the development of technology and artificial intelligence," said Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"AI engineers play a vital role in the AI transformation of Kazakhstan. The initiatives of the Generative Nation movement aim to develop human capital in AI, which will lead projects that transform not only our country but also global industries," said Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub.

“Last year, we witnessed the incredible potential of our participants, and this year we anticipate that talents from all regions of Kazakhstan will once again impress us with their projects. We believe that hackathons foster the creation of a vibrant AI community in the country," added Aidana Kaskyrbek, Director of BAITC.
