Expert Opinion: Kazakhstan's Emergence as a Key Player in the Global Tech Market
In his State of the Nation address last year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the strategic goal of transforming Kazakhstan into an IT powerhouse. He also set a target for the government to boost IT service exports to 1 billion dollars by 2026. Rustem Mustafin, Deputy Director of the Center for Political Research at the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies of the Kazakh National University of Higher Education, provides his expert opinion on the feasibility of these goals and how digitalization could shape Kazakhstan’s future.
"Creating an ecosystem that supports startups is a crucial step towards becoming an IT country. Business incubators and accelerators like Astana Hub are vital in providing young companies with access to funding, mentoring, and essential resources for their growth and development.
...Kazakhstan is making significant strides in fostering cooperation with leading international tech companies. Astana Hub, an innovation center that has acted as a catalyst for numerous projects with the backing of technology giants such as Microsoft and Google, plays a pivotal role in this process," he noted.
