ICSRIAP RK together with Astana Hub held a competition of startups aimed at the development of the Kazakh language

The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with Astana Hub, held a Qaz Startup Battle competition for IT startups aimed at developing the Kazakh language and content. Qaz Startup Battle was held as part of the V Forum of the creators of Kazakh-language online content QAZFORUM in Nur-Sultan. The winners received 3.5 million tenge.

The Qaz Startup Battle was attended by 13 young IT companies that presented their solutions to a jury headed by Bagdat Musin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Among the presented services are online courses of the Kazakh language, speech technology services for business, audio books in Kazakh, services for training Kazakh language teachers and applicants. The battle participants competed for cash checks for the development of their IT product in the amount of 2,000,000 tenge (1st place), 1,000,000 tenge (2nd place) and 500,000 tenge (3rd place).

“We need to break the stereotype that the Kazakh language is not the language of technology. Last week, within the framework of Digital Bridge, we held the Astana Hub Battle among Kazakhstani startups, today we awarded startups aimed specifically at the development of the Kazakh language and Kazakh-language content. It is important to support such initiatives,” said Bagdat Musin.

The winners of the battle of technology startups are:

1 place. Qlang is a marketplace and online platform for learning Kazakh and other languages.

2nd place. Joo.kz is a service for applicants that analyzes UNT scores and recommends universities for further education.

3rd place. On Moms is a mobile application in Kazakh for pregnant women from all regions of Kazakhstan

Special prizes in the form of a cash check for 500,000 tenge from the Public Fund "Ұлттық Аударма бюросы" were awarded to the career planning web platform TED Project and the speech technology service for business Speech Lab.

“For the third year in a row, our technopark has been hosting the Astana Hub Battle of technology startups. This event always brings together a huge number of young talents who want to present their IT products to a wide audience. This year, Astana Hub Battle received its thematic continuation in the form of Qaz Startup Battle.
