Daria Gomonova is a graduate of the Tech Orda educational program in 2023. Originally from Petropavlovsk, he now lives and works in Almaty. She has been working in data analytics for 1.5 years, and after completing the course “Application Development in Qlik Sense", she joined the BI solutions development team at Freedom Broker. Prior to that, Daria worked as a data analyst at Freedom Pay, where her tasks included not only data analysis, but also technical aspects of their processing.

Daria became interested in analytics during her internship in the HR department of Freedom Pay. Then she realized that she wanted to understand data more deeply and master the tools for business analysis. She already had basic knowledge of SQL and Python, but working with BI platforms remained an unexplored area. After learning about the Tech Orda program, a government project that helps to master sought—after IT professions, Daria decided to try her hand and take training in Qlik Sense, one of the leading BI systems at the Datanomix Academy.

When I joined the company, Qlik had been used there for many years. And learning it was the most logical and easiest decision that could come. Now I've moved to another company, which also has Qlik. I was destined to study Qlik. — Daria shares.

Daria studied at the university in parallel with the course, so it was important for her to quickly get a high-quality BI database and start performing complex tasks. The training turned out to be intensive, but it was thanks to this that she was able to accelerate her development in the profession. Qlik Sense turned out to be a convenient and powerful tool, and mastering it was a big step forward.

The most difficult task, which became a valuable experience for Daria, was the Advanced exam — a complex dataset helped her significantly deepen her analysis skills. At the same time, it also allowed us to unlock new features of Qlik Sense. Daria also appreciated the support of the Datanomix Academy community: graduates continue to help each other even after completing the course.

When studying a tool on your own, it is difficult to determine which topics require priority attention and which ones can be left for later. — says Daria.

Meeting deadlines turned out to be one of the main challenges. The consistent passage of lessons contributed to a deeper assimilation of the material. The skill of working with variables in set analysis became especially valuable for Daria - it proved to be in demand in her daily tasks.

One of the most difficult projects was related to HR analytics at Qlik Sense. However, in the new company, Daria faced an even more serious challenge: analyzing data with different dates in one set. To solve the problem, it was necessary to use complex formulas, including AGGR and ONLY. The final report turned out to be so detailed that colleagues took a long time to figure out its logic. Nevertheless, he worked flawlessly, which was an important professional achievement for Daria.

The more I study Qlik, the more I realize how powerful it is. — says Daria.

Before starting her studies, Daria rated her knowledge in analytics at 2 out of 10, but after six months — at 7.5 out of 10. Studying at the Datanomix Academy gave her a powerful theoretical and practical base, and the opportunity to return to the course materials helped deepen her knowledge. Thanks to this, she quickly worked her way up from an intern to a middle analyst, which made her stand out from her colleagues.

In the first half of 2025, Daria plans to improve her visualization and data storytelling skills. In the second half of the year, she is going to focus on data quality and get certified by Qlik Data Architect. In addition, she is interested in studying the administration of Qlik, where she has little expertise so far.

Daria shares her recommendations to those who are just starting their career in analytics.:

Go through each lesson thoughtfully — this is not just a step towards completing the course, but an investment in yourself as a specialist. Don't delay deadlines — consistency in learning makes the process easier. Master the basic level faster to pay more attention to advanced topics. Develop soft skills — understanding customer emotions, communication skills, and the ability to prove your point are important for an analyst.
